Dark Phoenix Film Officially Happening, Releasing in 2018
2018 will be a major release year for the X-Men film universe, as 20th Century Fox has dated three mutant movies for next year.
IGN can confirm that the New Mutants film will be released in theaters on April 13, 2018. Fox will then debut Deadpool 2, which recently had Josh Brolin cast as Cable, on June 1, 2018. Finally, the third and final X-Men film of the year, Dark Phoenix, will be released on November 2, 2018.
The dating of Dark Phoenix confirms earlier reports that suggested the next upcoming X-Men film, reportedly first known as X-Men: Supernova, would revisit the Jean Grey/Phoenix saga, with Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner returning to her role as Grey following 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. Turner recently discussed when the next X-Men film might start shooting.
Supergirl Is Introducing General Zod
General Zod is coming to Supergirl.
The villainous Krypton warlord will show up on episode 22 in the current second season of the show, which returns with new episodes starting this Monday. Mark Gibbon, who has appeared in Man of Steel and a few episodes on Smallville, will be portraying Zod.
However, there are currently no plot details about Zod's visit, including why he suddenly decides to come to National City and what role he might be playing on Supergirl.
But, it could have something to do with Superman's imminent return, as it's been confirmed Tyler Hoechlin will reprise his role as the Man of Steel for the Season 2 finale.
New Release Dates Announced for Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5
After being delayed multiple times, James Cameron's Avatar sequels now have new release dates.
Announced on the film's Facebook page, Avatar 2 will hit theaters December 18, 2020 followed by Avatar 3 on December 17, 2021, then three years later with Avatar 4 opening December 20, 2024, and, finally, Avatar 5 will hit theaters December 19, 2025.
"Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels," according to the Facebook post.
Avatar 2 was originally supposed to come out in late 2018 but was recently delayed because of how massive an undertaking it is to develop several sequels all at once. According to Cameron, "its an epic undertaking" that 's "unlike building the Three Gorges dam." Avatar 3, 4, and 5, were originally slated to open in 2020, 2022, and 2023 but have since been pushed a few years back now.
Why Star Wars Rebels Won’t End with Rogue One’s Battle of Scarif
While we know at least a couple of Star Wars Rebels characters were present for the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni cautions that we shouldn’t expect to see the animated series tackle a re-telling of the events of that film from a different perspective in the final season.
An exciting inclusion in Rogue One for fans was seeing elements from Star Wars Rebels make it into the film. Chopper makes an onscreen appearance, while an intercom page for “General Syndulla” lets us know that Hera is on the Rebel base on Yavin right before the Battle of Scarif – and we then see the Rebels ship, the Ghost, take part in that battle.

Newt Scamander’s Brother to Appear in Fantastic Beasts 2
Newt Scamander's brother will reportedly make an appearance in the next Fantastic Beasts movie.
Variety reports that Green Room actor Callum Turner is in talks for the role of Newt’s brother in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is written by Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling with Fantastic Beasts director David Yates returning to helm it.

Fast and Furious Spinoff in the Works
A Fate of the Furious spinoff is reportedly in the works, set to feature Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham.
Deadline reports that a spinoff spotlight Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw is in the early stages at Universal Pictures, with Fast and Furious franchise writer Chris Morgan reportedly set to write the script.
IGN has reached out to Universal Pictures for comment and will update this post should they respond.
Johnson first debuted in Fast Five as a Diplomatic Security Service agent hunting down Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his team before joining forces with them. Deckard Shaw, meanwhile, debuted in a Fast and Furious 6 post-credits scene before appearing as the main villain in Furious 7.

EA Play 2017 Tickets Now Available
Electronic Arts has announced that tickets to its E3-adjacent event EA Play 2017 are now available.
Attendees will be able to check out some of EA's biggest games for 2017 and beyond, including Star Wars Battlefront II, FIFA 18, NBA Live 18, Madden NFL 18, and a new Need for Speed game.
EA Play will take place from June 10-12 at the Hollywood Palladium. Tickets are free but limited in quantity. You can secure a ticket to the event by registering for EA Play here.
