The Wire, The Sopranos Not Leaving Amazon Prime

Update: Despite prior reports, HBO's library of shows currently available on Amazon Prime Video won't be leaving the streaming service next month after all.

A representative for HBO confirmed to IGN the labels indicating the shows would be leaving on May 21 were created in error. "I can confirm on the record that these titles will not be leaving the service...The titles were mislabeled within the system and the deal has not expired."

Additionally, a representative for Amazon confirmed to The Verge their deal with HBO has not expired, saying the titles were mislabeled and the error will be fixed soon.

Super Mario Kart Started Out as an F-Zero Multiplayer Mode

1992's Super Mario Kart was originally conceived as a multiplayer prototype for SNES launch title, F-Zero.

In an interview with Retro Gamer (via GamesRadar), original development team members Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideki Konno, and Tadashi Sugiyama explain how the fast-paced single-player title F-Zero transitioned into the iconic Super Mario Kart

"Our original plan didn’t include Mario or karts," they explain. "The game’s roots lie in one of the launch titles for the SNES: F-Zero. The game was designed for single-player gameplay because of our focus on getting across the sense of speed and the size of the courses.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Launches Without Multiplayer

CI Games has announced that its newest title, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 will launch without any of the planned multiplayer aspects.

In a statement to Eurogamer, the studio explains that this decision was made so as "not to dilute any potential from the single player experience."

Today marks both the review embargo and day of release for the game, and CI Games has not mentioned previously that multiplayer would not be available at launch.

"We have chosen to release the multiplayer update (that will be free for our players) after launch (the third quarter of 2017)," continues CI' statement.

Resident Evil 7 ‘Not a Hero’ DLC Delayed

Resident Evil 7’s free Not a Hero DLC has been delayed.

The DLC was originally scheduled for a Spring 2017 release, but due to not meeting expectations Capcom has decided the best course of action is to delay the DLC until it’s up to the standard fans expect.

Speaking in a video to fans, Resident Evil 7 director Masachika Kawata and producer Koshi Nakanishi both explained the situation as so:

“We were working very hard to get the DLC ready in time for the Spring release, and we got close to completing the game content,” says Kawata. “Our aim is for this content is to match the high quality of the main game, so we need more development time in order to achieve that goal.”

Bates Motel Producers Explain the Show’s Final Moments

Warning: Full spoilers for the final episode of Bates Motel follow...

With Bates Motel closing its doors, taking a brutal bow after five seasons of love and murder, I spoke to show creators Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin about how everything went down right at the end of the series finale, "The Cord," between Norman and Dylan. It was an emotional ride, and one that ended with Norman dead, at peace with the knowledge that he was heading off to, perhaps, see Norma again.

IGN: There were other characters who Norman could have shared his final moments with. How did it come down to, after five seasons, the two brothers?

Ehrin: The heart of the show has always been about family and this felt like the richest pairing in the story right at the end. And Norman, and this was a really fabulous performance from Freddie

Bates Motel: Freddie Highmore on the Fate of Norman Bates

Warning: The following contains major spoilers about the Bates Motel finale...

Don't scroll through any further if you haven't watched the final episode of Bates Motel. I spoke to star Freddie Highmore about all that transpired, from Norman's confrontations with Dylan and Romero to his final act of delusion. Was Norman fully crazy in the end? Did Dylan intend to kill him when he arrived for dinner? Here's what Highmore had to say...

IGN: In the end, Norman died. Was this the only option for him? We know how much he didn't want to be locked away.

Freddie Highmore: I think so. I think it's sad when you realize that Dylan was pitching his dream and what he wanted, what he had hoped would transpire between him and Norma and Norman and wanting them to all be together. It's sad because everyone had the same dream, really. They all wanted to be together. They all wanted to have their family intact. They loved each other but that wasn't enough. That's not just the tragedy of Norman and Norma, but Dylan as well. He wanted to be there with them but it just didn't work out. But if you look at it all as a love story between Norman and Norma, this was the happy end. It was the only way it could end. They had to be reunited and this was the only way for that to happen. I think though that the last scene had so many great beats in it that it summed up what Bates Motel was always about. Dylan's expression of his desires, but also Norman when he said "If you believe hard enough, you can make it that way." That line seemed so key to me and so heartbreaking because that's what he believed. But it's also something that we all can latch onto. We're almost taught it as we grow up, that if you have a dream and you keep working toward it that it'll come true. If you work hard enough then things will turn out okay.

Original Tomb Raider Level Now Playable in Browsers

A group of developers is aiming to bring the original Tomb Raider games online by building them from scratch. And a fully playable level from the first Tomb Raider is now available to play in browsers.

After reportedly being denied access to Eidos' original source code, developers in the OpenTomb project, as spotted by Polygon have decided to rebuild the first five Lara Croft adventures from scratch. The team has so far completed the second level of the first game — the City of Vilcabamba level — and made it available for play while allowing players to alternate between first and third person viewpoints.

5 Ways Dark Phoenix Can Redeem the Classic X-Men Comic

The X-Men movies don't always have a great track record when it comes to adapting classic comic book storylines. On one hand, you have gems like X-Men: Days of Future Past. On the other, you have X-Men: The Last Stand, which completely butchered the beloved source material from "The Dark Phoenix Saga."

Luckily, the X-Men movie-verse has just been given a mulligan. 2018's Dark Phoenix movie will mark Fox's second attempt at adapting Chris Claremont and John Byrne's epic saga of love, loss and cosmic genocide. And if it follows these guidelines, it might just manage to succeed where The Last Stand utterly failed.
