Scarface: Coen Brothers Have Scripted the Remake

Universal's Scarface remake is moving full-steam ahead.

The Coen brothers, known for their work on critically-acclaimed films like The Big Lebowski, Fargo, and No Country for Old Men, have polished the script for the remake. The drama will be produced by Scott Stuber (Ted), Dylan Clark (Planet of the Apes series), and Marc Shmuger (Lucy). The producer of the 1983 original, Martin Bregman, is also on board.

The film will open in theaters on August 10, 2018. The film currently doesn't have a director, as Antoine Fuqua (The Magnificent Seven) recently dropped out in order to get started on a sequel to The Equalizer for Sony and Denzel Washington. But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water ) and Peter Berg (Patriots Day) are the frontrunners to helm the reboot.

Will Smith Passes on Tim Burton’s Dumbo Movie

Disney's upcoming live-action Dumbo movie won't star Will Smith after all, as the Hollywood star has reportedly passed on the project.

According to Deadline, salary and scheduling issues were among the reasons why Smith's negotiations with Disney have ceased. Smith was in early talks to join Tim Burton-directed film last month, though his involvement could have impacted Bad Boys for Life.

Despite this setback, Disney is said to be moving "aggressively" forward on the project. Smith would have starred as the father of the children who befriend the lovable elephant. Meanwhile, Tom Hanks has reportedly been offered the role of the film's villain.

Valve Ending Steam Greenlight, Replacing It With Steam Direct

Valve is putting an end to its Steam Greenlight program later this year. In its place, Valve is introducing a new service called Steam Direct.

Steam Direct is "a new direct sign-up system for developers" seeking to put games on Steam. A new application fee required for submission of new content will "decrease the noise in the submission pipeline," according to Valve. A common complaint against Steam Greenlight is a lack of quality control in games available on the service.

Currently Valve is working with developers to come up with an appropriate fee, with responses coming back as low as $100 per game to as high as $5000.

GTA Parent Company Has ‘Licensed a Couple of Titles’ for Movie Adaptations

Some of Take-Two Interactive's most popular franchises might soon be turned into movies, according to a new report.
