Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms Announced
Gamera Games has announced Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms, an isometric action-RPG in development for PC and consoles, scheduled for a 2018 release, and being created in conjunction with RPG legend, Chris Avellone.
Described as a cross between Dark Souls and Amiga cult classic Moonstone: A Hard Days Knight, Alaloth will be broadly divided into two gameplay phases. Movement across the game’s overworld is turn-based, with players visiting points of interest to upgrade their character, buy mounts or visit the ruling families of the game’s four kingdoms to be given new quests or learn about the world’s political make-up.
On a first playthrough, players will choose from one of four races, and have to ally themselves with an existing house, each with an existing history and tie to one of the kingdoms. After one full completion, however, players will be able to create their own house, with customisable banners, mottos and more.

Nintendo Switch: No Virtual Console at Launch
Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch will not come with Virtual Console games at launch.
Confirmed in the press release for next week's indie game broadcast, Nintendo said: "Virtual Console games will not be available on Nintendo Switch at launch. We will share more information in the future."
Virtual Console is Nintendo's emulation service, allowing new consoles to play games from as far back as the NES. It will likely become a major part of the console's new paid-for online subscription, which will offer NES and SNES games each month.
Indie-Focused Nintendo Broadcast Coming Next Week
Nintendo has announced that it will broadcast a "Nindies Showcase" next Tuesday, February 28, at 9am PT/ 12pm ET / 5pm GMT (that's 3am AEST on February 29).
The broadcast will focus on downloadable indie games for the upcoming Nintendo Switch console. According to a press release, over 60 indie games will come to Nintendo eShop this year.
Nintendo also revealed that two previously announced indie games will now be arriving as Nintendo Switch launch games on March 3: Fast RMX, an F-Zero-like futuristic racing game, and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, the complete edition of Yacht Club's brilliant retro platformer, including the new Specter of Torment campaign..
As previously announced, Shovel Knight's DLC campaigns will now be sold as standalone games, meaning Specter of Torment will also be available separately on March 3.

LEGO City Undercover Current-Gen Release Date Revealed
LEGO City Undercover is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 4.
The open-world LEGO game first launched for Wii U back in 2013. The modern version of the game features a co-op mode not found in the original.
WB Games announced LEGO City Undercover for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on its Twitter page back in November, but didn't give a firm release date, saying the game was coming out in Spring 2017.
If you missed it on Wii U, and statistically speaking you probably did, the game blends the humor and collecting of LEGO games with a Grand Theft Auto-style open world format. There are "more than 20 unique districts to investigate," and besides the obvious chasing and apprehending criminals, there are "mischievous aliens to capture," among other quirky, LEGO-game activities.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Hands-On: 3 Hours of Spoiler-Free Impressions
From the very beginning, Mass Effect: Andromeda presents a strong, dedicated focus on customization, creatively expanding on some of the series’ staple RPG elements. I played three early hours of the game on PC last week, and here’s everything I learned about the upcoming sci-fi RPG, excluding extensive character and narrative-based information, because we don’t want to spoil anything. First things first, though, here's a brand new video, all about combat:
Just like Shepard, pre-made versions of Andromeda’s twin protagonists, Sara and Scott Ryder, exist, but the character customization menu also lends itself to creating more “hideous and outrageous” protagonists (to use BioWare’s own words) than the existing Mass Effect trilogy did. Since the Ryders aren’t military, there’s an array of unconventional and bizarre hairstyles available that likely never would’ve suited the likes of Shepard, and I think we’re going to have a whole lot of fun with it.
Pokemon World Championships 2017 Date, Location Announced
This year's Pokemon World Championships will take place from August 18-20 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.
The Championships cover both the core video game and trading card game series, with only those who earned enough points at qualifying events throughout the year invited to play. Winners in both categories earn a share of over $500,000 in prizes.
There's also a smaller prize pool for the world's best Pokken Tournament players, with qualifying competitors vying for a $20,000 prize pool on the Wii U version of the game.
The Pokemon Company has also announced an event offering the last chance to qualify for the World Championships, the North American International Championships, which will be held from June 30-July 2.

Bethesda ‘Can’t Say’ If Skyrim on Switch Is the Special Edition
While Skyrim is on its way to Nintendo Switch, comments from Bethesda's Todd Howard have made it unclear whether the version coming is a port of the 2011 original, the 2016 Special Edition, or a new custom-built version.
In an interview with Polygon, the publisher's executive producer was asked what version of the game would be coming to Nintendo's new console, to which he answered that he "can't say".
The Special Edition of the game included all of Skyrim's DLC, and included graphical upgrades and mod support for consoles. We awarded the console version an 8/10, saying it "recaptures and beautifies the legendary RPG".
