Spider-Man: Miles Morales Hero of Sony’s Animated Film
Move over, Peter Parker, because Miles Morales will be swinging onto the silver screen in Sony's animated Spider-Man movie.
Sony Picture Animation president Kristine Belson has announced that the film will focus on Morales. This follows rumors from last year that the black-Hispanic teenager would serve as the star of the animated Spider-Man instead of Parker.
In a pre-recorded intro to the press, the film's producer Phil Lord said, "There are a ton of amazing surprises in this movie. The animated nature of it allows us to go places where we’ve never gone before. The thing that inspires us most about Spider-Man is that anyone can wear that mask. I think that’s why the character is so popular. That underneath there you can be any race, creed or color. You can be any gender. And everybody can kind of project themselves into that hero and that’s the kind of movie we’re trying to make.”

Star Trek: Discovery Debut Pushed Back Again
Star Trek: Discovery's premiere has been delayed once again.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the series will no longer premiere in May and that there's currently no new release date set for the show. There are a few reasons for this second delay (the series was originally scheduled to debut in February), one of which is that the producers are still deciding on directors, special effects, set design, and other aspects of the show's production.
The second reason is that there's some concern regarding promoting their new star Sonequa Martin-Green in May, as she's a major cast member of The Walking Dead and that show's sixth season will still be airing through April.
Goosebumps 2 Is Coming
Sony Pictures has set a release date for Goosebumps 2.
The sequel to the successful kids horror comedy based on R.L. Stine's beloved books will hit theaters January 26, 2018. The first film's director Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tale) will return to helm the sequel. Screenwriter Darren Lemke (Turbo) will also come back to pen the new film, along with Deborah Forte (The Golden Compass) and Neal H. Moritz (22 Jump Street) returning to produce.
While the plot for Goosebumps 2 is still a mystery, Jack Black is expected to reprise his role as R. L. Stine. The sequel was announced earlier this year, and "the goal" at that time was to have Jack Black return to play the author in the new movie.

Guitar Hero Live Developer Acquired by Ubisoft
Guitar Hero Live and DJ Hero developer FreeStyleGames has been acquired by Ubisoft.
According to a blog post from Ubisoft, the formerly Activision-owned studio will work on AAA games "in close collaboration" with other Ubisoft studios, such as Grow Home developer Ubisoft Reflections. As part of the purchase, FreeStyleGames will be renamed Ubisoft Leamington.
FreeStyleGames suffered layoffs last April, nearly six months after the release of Guitar Hero Live. The studio would go on to assist Raven Software on the development of Call of Duty Online, Activision's free-to-play shooter in China.
The Discovery: Netflix Releases Trailer for New Sci-Fi Movie
Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming science fiction movie The Discovery.
The film, which debuts on Netflix on March 31, stars Robert Redford, Jason Segel, Rooney Mara, Riley Keough, and Jesse Plemons and is set in a world where the afterlife has been scientifically proven, and as a result more and more people start committing suicide to get there. The trailer shows off The Discovery's dark tone, the tenuous relationship between Jason Segel and Rooney Mara, and the new messed up world they live in.
The Discovery is directed by Charlie McDowell (The One I Love, Dear White People), and written by McDowell and Justin Lader (The One I Love).
Other new upcoming Netflix content to look forward is the horror comedy Santa Clarita Diet starring Drew Barrymore, which premieres on February 3, and Marvel's Iron Fist, which debuts on March 17.

Players will find their way around by tapping Cassie's cane to “see” via echolocation while trying not to make too much noise that will attract the Presence, a ghostly force that haunts the mansion.
