What Happened with Rime? – IGN First
A lot has been said about Rime’s radio silence before re-revealing the game a few weeks ago. Prior to that we hadn't seen or heard anything about Tequila Works work for a really long time. In fact the last time that we saw something official was a Gamescom trailer over two years ago.
Since then we were left to wonder what Rime was: what was the final game going to be like, and whether the game would even be release at some point. Those doubts got bigger in March 2016 when Tequila Works stated that they had acquired the rights to Rime from Sony Computer Entertainment. A few short months later, in August 2016, Tequila announced that the game would be published by Grey Box and Six Foot. The pieces were apparently moving, but the doubts were still there.
Hasbro Held Off Transformers/G.I. Joe Crossover
Director D.J. Caruso wanted to make G.I. Joe 3 a Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover film, but Paramount and Hasbro ultimately decided against bringing the two worlds together.
When discussing G.I. Joe 3 in an interview with Collider, Caruso said the studio isn't ready to move forward with a crossover just yet: "That’s exactly what they should do, but they’re not ready to do that, because in fact the script that I was developing, the two worlds sort of collided at the end and when they read it they were like, 'We’re not ready to do this yet.'"
Caruso went on to say he believes that Hasbro and Paramount "will eventually collide those two worlds and it's probably when Mr. Bay decides he's done with Transformers."

Good Place Preps for Season 2 as Season Finale Debuts
The Good Place airs its season finale tonight and while the show hasn't been officially renewed for a second season, there are encouraging signs. Speaking to a group of press recently, series creator Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation) noted work had already begun among he and the writers on a potential Season 2, and while that doesn’t guarantee anything, it certainly leans more towards NBC renewing the series than not.
In the meantime, Schur chatted with us about the decision to have the secret Eleanor (Kristen Bell) was keeping – that she wasn’t actually supposed to be in the Good Place that gives the show its name but in the "Bad Place" portion of the afterlife – quickly revealed about halfway through Season 1, the depiction of “Good Eleanor” (Tiya Sircar), and more about how he approaches The Good Place as a (comedic) longterm, serialized story inspired by series like Lost and Breaking Bad.
The Division Movie Gets Director
The Division movie has a director.
Variety reports that Gold and Syriana director Stephen Gaghan is attached to helm Ubisoft's film adaptation of its popular action game. Though Gaghan hasn't directed an action-heavy movie yet, the director does tend to delve into political and global issues in his films, which The Division touches on. Gaghan is particularly excited about exploring the apocalyptic Manhattan setting according to the site because "it's immersive, wonderfully strange, and yet familiar, filled with possibilities." The filmmaker has also scripted films including Traffic, The Alamo and Rules of Engagement.
5 Things the Animated Spider-Man Movie Needs
Spider-Man has quite an exciting Hollywood future ahead of him. Not only are fans in store for plenty more of Tom Holland's Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there's also Sony's animated Spider-Man film hitting on December 21, 2018. And now we know that this movie will feature Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker.
While a relatively recent addition to Marvel's comic book universe, Miles already has plenty of great source material for writers/executive producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller to draw from. We doubt that the duo will directly adapt any one specific Miles Morales comic, but there are specific elements we hope to see them use in the film, which they promise will be a "unique filmgoing experience." Here are five essential elements Miles needs in his big screen debut.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild Is Nintendo’s Last Wii U Game
Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be Nintendo's last Wii U game.
Speaking to Polygon, Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime said that, "from a first-party standpoint, there's no new development coming after the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We really are at the end of life for Wii U.”
Last year, Nintendo announced that it would soon end production of Wii U consoles, but had not announced its stance on game development.
Might and Magic Showdown Brings Miniature Warfare to Life
Wanna play with some toys? In a philosophical sense, most strategic or tactical games could be described as playing with digital toys, moving them around, making them change colors, and so on. But in a much direct sense, Might & Magic Showdown is very directly about playing with toys – miniatures, specifically. Pick ‘em out, paint ‘em, and send ‘em into battle – that’s Showdown.
It’s difficult to describe exactly how Showdown works, because it’s a combination of a few different ideas that make for a pretty fascinating whole. The focus on multiplayer and the progression systems make it feel a little like a MOBA, although it’s only one-on-one in terms of human players. Those players each control a hero, who has cooldown-based abilities that make them feel like a character in a World of Warcraft-like massively multiplayer role-playing system. But they have a few minions on their side, who are pre-programmed by players using a tactics system similar to Final Fantasy XII or Dragon Age: Origins. And then there’s the miniature painting system, which feels unlike anything I’ve ever played.
Portal Co-Creator Joins Star Wars Battlefront Studio
EA has announced that Portal co-creator Kim Swift will join Motive as Design Director.
In a blog post on EA’s official site, studio head Jade Raymond wrote that Motive “has a mission to innovate and pioneer new ways to play and create worlds that allow for relentless discovery. I couldn’t think of a better person than Kim to help us achieve those ambitions.”
The post didn’t specify which project Swift will work on, though Raymond reiterated that Motive is currently working on a new IP as well as EA’s Star Wars projects.
Motive was announced in summer 2015 by Raymond, and at the time the studio was set to work on Uncharted director Amy Hennig’s untitled Star Wars project. Since then, EA announced that the studio is also creating its own original IP and working on the Star Wars Battlefront sequel.
