Project Scorpio Info Leak Re-Confirms 6 Teraflop GPU

A look at official information from Microsoft about the upcoming Project Scorpio has been analyzed and gives more clues as to the power of the iterative update to the Xbox One.

Digital Foundry, who made a video sourcing information from a public-facing Microsoft report, says the whitepaper confirms Scorpio is getting a different RAM architecture than Xbox One, four times the L2 cache, and gives more evidence of a six teraflop GPU.

That means the GPU in Scorpio has around 4.5 times the compute power of the current Xbox One.

Digital Foundry's analysis also casts doubt the CPU will have AMD's new Zen architecture, and will instead use chips based on the Jaguar family, as is the current case with Xbox One, PS4, and PS4 Pro.

Nintendo Says Pikmin 3DS Is Still Coming in 2017

Nintendo has reiterated that the previously announced new Pikmin game for 3DS will still be released sometime in 2017.

The game was first revealed last year at a Nintendo Direct but there have been no further updates about the title until today. However, besides the 2017 release being reconfirmed, the 3DS game still does not have a specific title or release date.

This latest Pikmin entry will let players assume the role of Captain Olimar in a side-scrolling adventure with a focus on action. It won't contain open exploration like in the previous games in the series, but will instead have players tap the 3DS screen to aim where they want to throw Pikmin. The original three Pikmin types -- blue, yellow, and red -- will also all be a part of Olimar's new adventure.

The game will also sport the same hand-drawn art style and challenging turn-based tactical battles the series is known for. A release date for the title has not been announced yet.

Being an independent developer, Stoic doesn't plan on taking any outside funding "to bring this series home, we’d love Kickstarter support to add additional features that are simply beyond our current budget," said John Watson, co-founder and Technical Director at Stoic.
