Rogue One Comic Book Spin-offs We Want to Read

With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story being such a plot-driven movie, there’s plenty of opportunity for comic books to fill in the backstory of its ensemble cast of characters.

Marvel Comics, holder of the Star Wars comic license, has been churning out both ongoing Star Wars comics and mini-series featuring specific characters like Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. The ragtag Rogue One team is practically tailor-made for the mini-series treatment, just enough time to flesh out where they came from and learn about who they really are when they’re not trying to save the galaxy from a planet-killing weapon.

While at first Marvel only set the comics between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, they’ve now taken to exploring different time frames throughout the various Episodes. The mini-series Obi-Wan and Anakin follows the Master/Padawan duo between the events of The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, whereas Shattered Empire picks up in the closing moments of Return of the Jedi and introduces us to Poe Dameron’s parents. These Rogue One comics would mostly take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

Avengers Animated Series Preview: Civil War is Here!

The animated series Marvel's Avengers: Ultron Revolution is about to dive into Civil War in a big way, in a four-part storyline airing as a marathon this Saturday.

Civil War will bring a ton of Marvel heroes into combat, along with at least one big villain return, which we can reveal in an exclusive clip. In this scene, two different Avengers team discover the truth about a malicious mastermind who's been hiding in plain sight, as Truman Marsh undergoes some changes...

Check it out!

The official synopsis for the Civil War storyline reads:

In the “Civil War" story arc, when one Inhuman is overwhelmed by his powers and destroys a small town, the U.S. government steps in and passes the Registration Act – a piece of legislation that requires all Inhumans to publicize their superpower. When the Avengers disagree with this new law and refuse to enforce it, Truman Marsh decides to enlist the Mighty Avengers instead. Unfortunately, with these two teams fighting in a civil war, no one expects Ultron to make his final move. This four-part storyline will introduce the Mighty Avengers, a team consisting of Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Red Hulk, Vision, Songbird, and Ant-Man.

The Magicians Wants You To Know It’s Messing With You

The Magicians isn't going to wait long to resolve its big Season 1 cliffhanger, but expect the Syfy fantasy series to take you on one heck of an unexpected journey from there.

Full spoilers for The Magicians: Season 1 continue below.

We visited the Season 2 set of The Magicians back in October when the show was filming its eighth episode, and already the stars were incredibly buttoned up on the many plot twists and turns had taken to get to that point. Considering the majority of the cast whose characters we saw die in the Season 1 finale were working on set that day, it's safe to say that all hope is not lost for our favorite group of Brakebills magicians, but co-showrunner John McNamara teased that the question of whether Quentin & co survive is just the tip of the iceberg.

Riverdale Cast Preview a Dark, Dreamy and Dangerous Archie Revamp

It was a rainy, atmospheric day in Vancouver when I visited the set of Riverdale this past fall...

Okay, granted, the rain wasn't a shock given the city the series films in, but the mood felt perfect for a visit to this particular show, which debuts this Thursday. The CW’s new series -- from executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Supergirl) and Archie Comics' Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, with the latter serving as showrunner -- takes the iconic Archie characters and puts them into a world filled with sex and murder, with the mysterious death of Riverdale High student Jason Blossom upending everyone’s lives and the secrets they’ve been keeping.

The majority of the interviews I conducted during my visit were inside the awesome-looking set for Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe, which expertly replicates a 1950s diner, but is often lit in a dreamy, semi-menacing manner, which is a good example of Riverdale’s intriguing overall vibe.

Project Scorpio Is a “Full Blown Next-Gen Machine” Says Dev

An Xbox developer has spoken out on the rumoured power of upcoming console upgrade, Project Scorpio.

Creator of Ori and the Blind Forest, Thomas Mahler took to NeoGAF to answer a question about whether Scorpio is a PS4 Pro style console update, or a whole new generation of Xbox console. His answer - it's sort of both:

"Scorpio isn't just a half-assed upgrade (which the PS4 Pro kinda is...), but a full blown next-gen machine that's just backwards-compatible to your current library."

That's a little outside of the company line - Microsoft has previously downplayed the idea of a separation between its consoles, even saying that Scorpio will put an end to the idea of console generations altogether.
