WoW: Legacy Servers Are ‘Something We’re Taking Seriously’

The conversation around when and if Blizzard will ever release World of Warcraft legacy servers is a familiar refrain at BlizzCons, and especially so since the fan-made legacy server Nostalrius was shut down earlier in 2016. Since the Blizzard team, including CEO Mike Morhaime, met with the Nostalrius' core development team in June, there hasn't been much forward momentum on the topic, and no new news came out of any of WoW's BlizzCon 2016 presentations.

Doctor Strange had a strong debut at the domestic box office, earning an estimated $85 million during its opening weekend.

As noted by Variety, Marvel's latest film had a larger domestic debut than Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Ant-Man, eclipsing their opening weekends of $65.7 million, $65.1 million and $57.2 million, respectively. As such, the film now ranks as having the tenth biggest opening of the MCU's fourteen films, right behind Thor: The Dark World's $85.7 million weekend haul.

What You Need to Know About Valerian

Earlier this week, I was invited to sit in the editing bay with writer and director Luc Besson to see some new, never-before-seen footage from his latest film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, based on the popular Valerian and Laureline graphic novel series. The footage included the film’s first teaser trailer (which will be released publicly next Thursday, Nov 10th), a reshowing of the 6-minute long San Diego Comic-Con footage from earlier this year, a behind-the-scenes reel, and a Besson-guided step-by-step showing of what it’s been like creating just one of the many, many visual effects-heavy moments in the film, from its original storyboard to an actual completed shot.

Why WoW: Legion Patch 7.3 Is Going to Argus

The team behind World of Warcraft is doing their best to live up to their promise to deliver a "steady stream of content" for the Legion expansion. In addition to the upcoming release of Legion Patch 7.1.5, fans learned at BlizzCon 2016 that patch 7.2 will be the Tomb of Sargeras, and were teased that Patch 7.3 is going to send them to Argus, the long-awaited Draenei homeworld.

Speaking to game director Ion Hazzikostas at BlizzCon, he explained that the reason the WoW team is already talking about Patch 7.3 is so the eventual release of Patch 7.2 is put in better context.

"It's hard to say much without spoiling the story of 7.2, which we don't want to do. We definitely wanted to make sure people knew, since otherwise 7.2 might sound like a finale, that there's a whole lot more story waiting for them after that," he told IGN.

Blizzard ‘Actively Working’ on Overwatch Server Browser

Today at BlizzCon 2016, the Overwatch team shed light on a few of the improvements and changes that are on the way for its popular team-based shooter, including when fans might see the addition of a server browser.

During a Q&A with fans, the studio said it's "actively working" on adding a server browser, but couldn't provide a specific date as to when it will arrive.

The team was also asked about holiday-specific items, and whether or not there are plans to make content like the Halloween-exclusive loot available separately sometime in the future. While the studio refrained from giving a definitive answer, the team emphasized that they're still experimenting with the loot system and using community response as a guide when looking toward the future.
