Guy Ritchie in Talks to Direct Disney’s Live-Action Aladdin
Sherlock Holmes, Snatch, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director Guy Ritchie is in negotiations to helm Disney’s live-action Aladdin remake.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney wants to make the film non-linear, a form of storytelling that Ritchies prefers with his movies.
Dan Lin, who produced Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes remakes for Warner Bros., will reportedly be producing Aladdin. John August, who wrote Big Fish, penned the script for the live-action remake which will reportedly keep the musical elements from the original. The 1992 animated classic won Oscars for best score, and best song for A Whole New World.
