Funko Announces Batman: The Animated Series Collectibles

Funko has announced a new range of Batman: The Animated Series collectibles.

As well as Batman and Robin, the collection also includes figures of Batgirl, The Joker, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy.

Though Funko state the figures are "coming soon", as yet, there's no specific release date.

Batman: The Animated Series, inspired by Tim Burton's take on the Caped Crusader tales, ran from 1992-1995. The show was eventually renamed The Adventures of Batman and Robin for its final year, and generated its own spin-off movie, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

Though we all consider Harley Quinn a staple of Batman lore now, she actually didn't make her appearance until this animated show came along.

Samsung Offers Galaxy Note 7 Explosion Solution – Turn the Phone Off

Samsung's new phones keep exploding, and the answer is to stop using them, forever.

Following a huge recall in September, Samsung had said that replacement Galaxy Note 7s were now safe. However, as the BBC notes, replacement phones have since begun spontaneously catching fire, even causing a US domestic flight to be evacuated.

Samsung has now called for Note 7 owners to "power down and stop using the device", while asking all retailers and carriers who stock the phone to halt selling or exchanging it.

Doctor Strange Embraces the Trippy Astral Realm and Multiverse

When director Scott Derrickson introduced a sneak peek at 15 minutes of footage from Doctor Strange, he described the curated scenes as being "representative of the movie we made." If that's the case, then comics fans are in luck, because it is one heck of a trip through the astral plane that is pulled straight from Steve Ditko's mind.

If you ask Derrickson to describe what he put together with Doctor Strange, he calls it a "mind-trip action movie about one man overcoming himself." While the footage shown (in IMAX 3D) gave a broad sketch of the journey of a man "who through this gauntlet of pain and suffering he overcomes himself," it went especially heavy on the "mind-trip action movie" side of things.

Thomas Jane’s portrayal of the Punisher helped inspire Jon Bernthal’s take on the anti-hero.

ScreenGeek reports that, while answering questions during a New York Comic Con panel, Jon Bernthal revealed he studied Jane's Frank Castle in the short fan film, Dirty Laundry.

New Study Estimates Pokemon Go Players Took 100 Billion Steps in Just Three Months

Microsoft Research recently released a paper estimating that while using the Pokemon Go app, players added over 100 billion steps to the Unites States' collective physical activity in just three months.

Composed by Ryen W. White and Eric Horvitz at Microsoft and Stanford University's Tim Althoff, the experiment looked at 32,000 users' activity over the course three months "through a combination of signals from large-scale corpora of wearable sensor data and search engine logs," to "quantify the impact of Pokémon Go on physical activity." Of that number, they identified 1,420 users and measured the game's overall effect between July and August based on their use of the app.
