Final Fantasy XV’s Story Takes Place Over 10 Years
Director Hajime Tabata has revealed that 10 years pass during Final Fantasy XV’s story.
Speaking to IGN at PAX West, Tabata revealed that the late-game, bearded Noctis seen in footage released at Gamescom is ten years older than when we see him at the beginning of the game saying goodbye to King Regis.
“In the opening sequence, you see Regis and Noctis talking to one another and Regis tells him to stand tall,” Tabata told IGN. “His appearance later on in the game communicates that he has
that to heart and lived with those final words.”
Pokemon Go Buddy System Officially Announced
After a Buddy System was discovered in the code of Pokemon Go, Niantic Labs and The Pokemon Company have confirmed the new feature is indeed in the works and is "just around the corner."
According to an update post from the development team, the feature will allow players to select one Pokemon from their collection and make it their buddy, which will then in turn open up "unique in-game rewards and experiences." For example, walking with a Buddy Pokemon will award the player with additional Candy.
Spidey, Panther Suits Designed with Future Films in Mind
When Captain America: Civil War introduced Black Panther and Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it didn't just offer new big screen depictions of T'Challa and Peter Parker -- it also gave audience-goers their first look at the MCU's take on Black Panther and Spider-Man's superhero suits. The first looks at Black Panther's sleek vibranium costume and Spider-Man's Tony Stark-gifted suit were highly anticipated, which is why it was a big group effort to make sure they were designed right.
Civil War costume designer Judianna Makovsky wasn't tasked with designing these two high profile outfits alone; in fact, Marvel came to her with some fully formed ideas of what the studio wanted the designs to look like. Not only did they have to work within the third Captain America movie, but they also needed to work for Spider-Man and Black Panther's upcoming standalone films.
CoD: Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Stresses Control, Choice
Infinite Warfare is introducing a vast set of new (or simply tweaked) systems for multiplayer designed to give you more control over how you play and how the firefight goes down – seemingly in honor of Call of Duty’s first foray into space. We played quite a few matches at Call of Duty XP this weekend, and two things stood out in particular: soldier classes and map design.
Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer seems really focused on how players usually want to play Call of Duty, and that results in a modular system of classes, loadouts, and weapon upgrades. It’s a lot to take in. The build we played didn’t have the weapon crafting system, though those upgrades are promised for the future, so putting a loadout together wasn’t too difficult this time around. It’s actually the same pick-10 system you’re probably used to, complete with a lot of the same weapon attachments and perks. I tried not to think about how weapon upgrades could overwhelm the process.
Toho’s Shin Godzilla Coming to North American Theaters

Shin Godzilla has had great success in Japan (¥ 5,302,014,700 at the box office) since opening there in July. Co-directed by Hideaki Anno (creator of Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (director of Toho’s 2015 Attack on Titan live-action movies), Shin Godzilla is the 29th Godzilla film produced by Toho. It stars two of the leads of the live-action Attack on Titan, Hiroki Hasegawa and Satomi Ishihara, as well as Yutaka Takenouchi.

6 New TV Shows We’re Excited For
Our full Fall TV Preview posted recently, and as you can see looking it over, there is a ton of shows to choose from in the weeks and months to come. But among the new series, which stand out the most? We've had the chance to see many of the upcoming series (or, at the least, the first episode), and selected a few that we think have a lot of promise.
We all know good shows can start out bad, and bad shows can start out strong, but as the premieres for these series approach, here are 6 series we're hopeful for in the long term.
Premiere: 10/02/16
J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan's last collaboration brought us the excellent Person of Interest, so we're instantly intrigued by the two teaming up again, joined by Lisa Joy (Burn Notice), for this adaptation of the 1973 film from Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton about a different kind of theme park gone wrong experience. The cast (including Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Jimmi Simpson and Shannon Woodward) is top notch and having seen the first two episodes, we're already fascinated by this depiction of a picture perfect recreation of the wild west, populated by robots - and what happens when they begin to behave in ways their makers don't expect.
The Future of the 3DS: What You Need to Know
September’s Nintendo Direct carefully outlined the next several months of 3DS software with the kind of goofy-yet-loveable charm that sets Nintendo apart from its competitors. But between the skits about Reggie’s lost 3DS XL and bearded Bill Trinen, Nintendo’s video presentation had surprise game announcements, and some games we weren’t quite expecting side-by-side with some we barely had enough time to really grasp.
In total, Nintendo talked about 18 games plus five new mini games for StreetPass Plaza, and that’s not counting Skyward Sword’s release on Wii U Virtual Console. Here’s the full scoop:
