Game Scoop!: Another Crazy PS4 Neo Fan Theory
Paper Mario: Color Splash Has the Most Realistic-Looking Lemons You’ve Ever Seen
In a standard Mario game, there are a few options you can always rely on when you’re taking down an enemy. You can stomp, use a Super Star, or maybe throw a fireball, but how often do you get to blind a koopa with lemon juice? Well, thanks to Paper Mario: Color Splash, even the power of citrus is now in our favorite plumber’s arsenal.
In Color Splash, the battle card system from Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam returns, but this time with a new twist: Thing cards. You can still utilize jumps and hammers and fireballs as you’d expect, but Things offer the wonderfully weird twist of introducing 3D objects into Mario’s 2D world that deliver devastating finishing moves in battle.
With long animations reminiscent of a Final Fantasy-style summon, Things shown in our PAX demo included revelations such as blinding enemies with the aforementioned lemon juice, stomping foes with a 50-foot tall fortune cat, and using the world’s largest fan to send a boss flying off the earth itself.

Why Final Fantasy XV Becomes More Linear Near the End
Final Fantasy XV has a gigantic open world to explore, but it doesn’t stay that way the entire time. Recently, director Hajime Tabata has discussed the fact that in later parts of the game, XV actually becomes more linear as players start to focus more on following the story.
In an interview at PAX, Tabata explained why the game is structured this way, and clarified how much of the open world you’ll still be able to go back and explore even once you’ve reached the later parts of the game.
“Rather than it being the latter half, it’s actually very close to the end of the game,” Tabata told IGN regarding when things become more linear.
“I didn’t want to end the game in an open world type of environment,” he continued. “At the very end, when the main character and the enemy are going against one another, there’s a build up in the story. I wanted to ensure that that last part was a little bit different from the open world environment and more of a packed, condensed type of game experience.”
World of Final Fantasy May Be the Series’ Funniest Game
Final Fantasy isn’t a series primarily associated with humor. While each game features its own comic relief, mainline games are generally better known for their epic, sweeping stories and Shakesperean-level tragedies. In World of Final Fantasy, I heard two jokes about body odor within a 20-minute play session.
World of Final Fantasy is an adorable new departure for Final Fantasy and sees players exploring the land of Grymoire, a chibi-style world filled with all of the Final Fantasy monsters you’d expect. You play as brother and sister duo Lann and Reyne, who are the lone characters who can switch from chibi-style to “normal” sized, which causes quite a stir.
While turn-based battles work about how you’d expect, World of Final Fantasy’s humor really took me by surprise. Early on, Lann and Reyne have wonderful banter as they explore Grymoire trying to get their memories back, and even break the fourth wall as they observe the circumstances they’ve found themselves in. They use decidedly un-Final Fantasy-like slang (calling a Queen “dude,” for example), which prompts fun responses from the characters they encounter. Cameos from series heroes like Cloud and Lightning also let us see those characters in fun new circumstances instead of the serious, somber situations we’re used to.

NASA Approves 2018 Mission to Mars
The InSight mission, which will study Mars deep interior, has been officially approved by NASA for a launch on May 5, 2018.
Approved by the agency's Science Mission Directorate this week, InSight — The Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport mission — originally had a March 2016 launch planned, but those plans were suspended in December because of a vacuum leak in the Seismic Experience for Interior Structure, the main instrument being used in the mission. SEIS needs "a perfect vacuum seal around its three main sensors in order to withstand harsh conditions."
