A Soccer Legend is Playable in NBA 2K17
Thierry Henry, Arsenal and France soccer legend, will appear as a playable character in NBA 2K17. Which is a bit odd.
Henry will primarily appear as a court-side celebrity at home games for the San Antonio Spurs, but 2K17's street basketball Blacktop mode will feature him as a playable character.
He joins Creed star Michael B. Jordan and comedian Hannibal Buress, who both appear in the game's MyCareer mode.
Rumours I have just made up right now indicate that other unlikely celebrities coming to NBA 2K17 include ex-Secretary of State Colin Powell, a dog trying to pass as a businessman, and Renee Zellweger.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Delayed to 2018
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been delayed until 2018.
Former Castlevania series producer Koji "IGA" Igarashi updated backers of the project, stating: "The last thing I want to do is keep our backers waiting, but after receiving such incredible support, I feel responsible for delivering the best product I possibly can. Again, I offer my sincerest apologies."
In a statement on the game's Kickstarter page, the team added: "To ensure the game meets his quality standards, IGA is bringing on additional developers and has moved his estimate for the game's release back to the first half of 2018."
Xbox One Was August 2016’s Top-Selling Console
According to Microsoft, the NPD Group's monthly report gives the best selling console title for August to the Xbox One.
Attributing the numbers to the recently launched Xbox One S and thanking its fans, Microsoft used the opportunity to take a jab at Sony, who yesterday revealed the long-rumored PlayStation Neo, officially called the PlayStation 4 Pro.
The Xbox One S "is the only console available this holiday with built-in UHD 4K Blu-ray, 4K video streaming, and HDR for video and gaming," a not-subtle-at-all dig at the PS4 Pro's lack of 4K Blu-ray support.
Last month, Microsoft also claimed the top-spot in console sales, but in actuality it was the best 8th generation console for the period. It's an important distinction because it leaves out Nintendo's 3DS, which was the over-all top selling console last month.
Punisher: War Zone Director to Helm Benoit Biopic
The Chris Benoit biopic, Crossface, has found a new director in Punisher: War Zone's Lexi Alexander.
Crossface tells the story of the late WWE superstar's struggles in both his personal and professional lives while he unknowingly suffered from severe, likely wrestling-related, brain degeneration. Benoit infamously killed his wife and son before committing suicide in June 2007. The film is based on Matthew Randazzo V's book Ring of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit & the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry.

First revealed in 2011, the movie's script comes from Jake Goldberger (Life of a King) and Sarah Coulter. Alex A. Ginzburg and Tony Lee will produce, with Ram Getz and Randazzo V serving as executive producers. Good's Vicente Amorim was previously attached to direct.
Doom Deathmatch Gameplay Reveal Coming Next Week
Doom's forthcoming "Free Update 3" will bring with it both Deathmatch and support for private matches, Bethesda has announced.
The publisher also released a teaser showcasing Deathmatch and Arcade Mode, and announced that gameplay footage of these new additions will be streamed live on Tuesday, September 13 at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET. Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin from id Software will be showcasing the new features right here.
Deathmatch will add free-for-all battles to Doom's multiplayer. Meanwhile, players will be able to tweak the time and score limit settings in private multiplayer matches, which allow a group of friends to play together on a map and mode of their choosing. Private matches also feature the option to turn on or off demons and power weapons.
Miyamoto Says VR ‘Doesn’t Really Fit’ Mario
Mario is officially making the jump to a new platform with the upcoming release of the first official Mario mobile game, but Nintendo has some reservations about bringing its games to another platform — virtual reality.
Super Mario Run, Nintendo's first Mario-focused mobile game for iOS, was announced during Apple's iPhone 7 event earlier this week when Shigeru Miyamoto made a surprise appearance on-stage at the conference. And while Nintendo is embracing phones as a new platform for classic characters like Mario, Miyamoto is less enthusiastic about Nintendo games in virtual reality.

Black Lightning TV Series Gets Pilot Commitment From FOX
Following last week's announcement that Arrow producer Greg Berlanti is developing a TV series based on the superhero Black Lightning, the upcoming DC Comics show has struck a deal with FOX.
According to Variety, the network has made a pilot production commitment, which indicates FOX is heavily invested in the project but it's not a guarantee that it will definitely go to series.

Blizzard Announces Hearthstone Arena Mode Changes
Hearthstone's Arena mode is in for an overhaul. A whole bunch of cards are being removed in efforts to balance the game in an upcoming patch, Blizzard has revealed.
In a new blog post, Hearthstone designer Dean Ayala notes that Blizzard Entertainment has been working to address the discussion surrounding Hearthstone's Arena game mode. It's been set up to have a "meaningfully different" feel than Constructed, Solo Adventures, and Tavern Brawl, Ayala said. Blizzard is focused on creating a "wide range of experiences within each game mode" and believes this is where Arena "has room for improvement."
