What It’s Like to Jump Back Into Destiny…2 Years Later

Like many others, I quit playing Destiny in 2014. I’d reached level 20, and while my friends tried explaining to me the concept of the ‘light’-centric endgame, it felt too convoluted, too vague, and too time-consuming to figure it all out. I’d finished the story and hit level cap; time to move on.

But time wore on and I kept hearing that Destiny had changed. Vanilla Destiny - what I played - was apparently well in the rear view mirror. Three pieces of DLC later, with a particularly significant upgrade thanks to The Taken King, the Destiny of 2016 was by all accounts the shooter Bungie always intended to make.

So I decided to buy all three DLC packs and jump back in for a couple of days to see if it’s possible to enjoy Destiny two years on. Here’s what happened.

Agents of SHIELD: What You Need to Know About Ghost Rider

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD isn't trying to hide the splashiest new addition to its ensemble of characters. The subtitle of its new season names him loud and clear: Ghost Rider. The ABC drama is using Robbie Reyes as a big hook to get people excited for Season 4, and ever since his involvement was announced at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel is going all in to get people excited about bringing the superhero to the small screen.

Here are the basics: Gabriel Luna (Matador, Wicked City) plays Robbie Reyes, a Dodge Charger-driving superpowered human whose powers come from a spirit named Eli Morrow. Eli is permanently bonded to the car, and is seeking vengeance against the gang members who killed him. When Robbie transforms into Ghost Rider in the comics, he ditches the Johnny Blaze flaming skull for a more practical skull-shaped helmet. Based on a first look at SHIELD Season 4, the TV show will do a mix of the two.

Furious 8: Brian O’Conner May Cameo

The Fast and the Furious 8 may feature an appearance by Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, if recent comments by the late actor's brothers, Cody and Caleb, are any indication.

In an interview with ET, Caleb said he spoke with Vin Diesel about bringing O'Conner back for a future film. "I had a phone call with Vin for about an hour and we really discussed this a while back," he said.

"He wanted

blessing," Caleb continued, noting that Diesel wanted to check with them to see if it "would be acceptable to maybe bring Paul's character back… to really kind of let his fans know he's still out there."

Witcher 3 Won’t Receive PS4 Pro Patch

CD Projekt Red isn't planning on creating a PlayStation 4 Pro patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Speaking with Eurogamer, the studio explained it is prioritizing its efforts on Gwent: The Witcher Card Game and Cyberpunk 2077. That means an update for Sony's upgraded console isn't in the works.

"Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one

would be too much of a time- and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro," CD Project Red said to Eurogamer.

Are the Emmys Finally More Open to Genre Series?

With Game of Thrones' big win last night for Outstanding Drama Series, it's time to take a closer look at the types of shows that are currently being honored by the Emmys. Because Thrones winning the top TV award two years in a row (it also broke a rather notable record) is a pretty notable event.

In any previous Emmy era, Game of Thrones, no matter the quality, wouldn't have been even considered by many voters due to the dragons, sorcery, and overall fantasy world of the show. It's a genre series, and even though it's currently one of the - if not THE - hottest shows on TV, its packaging just isn't for everyone - or at least that's what the mantra used to be for genre shows. Currently however, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead are actively disproving the theory that TV shows featuring monsters and mass amounts of gore can't draw in huge numbers.

Game of Thrones Creator on Possible Prequel Series

Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin recently spoke to the future of HBO's hit drama, teasing the possibility of a prequel series.

"I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones, so there’s a lot of material there and I’m writing more," Martin said backstage after the show won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, Deadline reports.

That said, Martin was careful to point out there are currently no official plans for a prequel, noting that "at the moment we still have this show to finish and I still have two books to finish so that’s all speculation."
