Nordic Games Rebrands to THQ Nordic
Nordic Games has rebranded, and will henceforth be known as THQ Nordic.
The main reason for the change comes down to the portfolio of THQ IP the company owns. The rebrand, in a nutshell, is to show fans Nordic is serious about breathing new life into their acquired IPs.
“THQ Nordic represents a core approach of doing much more than ‘owning’ a highly competitive portfolio of IP,” reads the press release. “We cherish them, and align them with the very best development resources to expand upon them with the level of experience that communities and established fan bases expect and deserve.”
Nordic Games acquired several THQ IPs during April of 2013, following THQ’s bankruptcy. The IPs purchased include Red Faction, MX vs. ATV, Destroy All Humans!, Summoner, and of course, the Darksiders franchise.
WWE 2K17 New Features Revealed
WWE 2K17 is getting a plethora of new changes to gameplay, MyCareer, WWE Universe, and more, but won't have a 2K Showcase, 2K Games has revealed.
The publisher explained the exclusion of a 2K Showcase, a mode that focuses on past WWE rivalries, saying that ideas, which revolved around cover Superstar Brock Lesnar, weren't feasible because of other historic WWE Superstars not being in the game.
"In all, we didn’t feel good about creating a Showcase that was not up to our standards and current development vision," the blog post reads, "so we decided to take that effort and put it into modes our community requests we keep improving: WWE Universe and MyCareer."
No Man’s Sky Devs Working on ‘Critical Issues’
No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games has laid out what the team is doing to fix the game’s numerous problems.
In a post on the No Man’s Sky website, Hello Games says its working on fixes for the most “critical issues,” and those problems will be addressed in a patch in the “near future.” It's not made clear what those issues are, specifically.
The team has also brought in a QA group that’s bigger than the entire dev team in the hopes of spotting bugs before they find their way into the retail version No Man’s Sky.
As well as offering an apology to players suffering in-game issues, Hello Games offered up the following workarounds for certain problems:
Ubisoft Invents Fart-Smelling Virtual Reality Tech for South Park
Virtual Reality may be filling our eyes and ears right now, but Ubisoft has taken things a step further by creating a Nosulus Rift - a mask that pipes the smell of farts into your nose as you create them in South Park: the Fractured But Whole. Yes.
This actual, genuine, no-fooling real bit of tech will be travelling to Cologne in time for Gamescom, where at least one person from the IGN team will be forced to use it. I really hope it's not me.
Whoever gets the honour, they'll likely end up smelling more than they bargained for. As producer Jason Schroeder puts it, "one of your special abilities
is really the power of your ass."
That's borne out by our E3 preview of The Fractured But Whole, which included "more fart sound effects in 20 minutes than I've ever heard in any other video game."
Final Fantasy 15 DLC Packs to Make Each Party Member Playable
While the main game has the player exclusively controlling lead character, Noctis, Final Fantasy XV's DLC packs will make each of his roadtripping buddies - Ignis, Gladiolus and Prompto - playable for their own adventure.
While the game's season pass, and those packs, were announced last week, we hadn't had confirmation of the nature of each until they were listed on the game's official website (as translated by Siliconera).

Deus Ex Go—the turn-based mobile game based in the Deus Ex universe—will be released August 18 on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
The announcement came via Twitter, with Square Enix Montreal give up no other information besides the sunglasses emoji.
