South Park Creators Tease Season 20
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con to celebrate the show’s upcoming 20th season, which debuts in September on Comedy Central. They also were on hand with a sneak peek of their next video game, Ubisoft’s South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
I was able to talk to Parker and Stone right before they took the stage in Hall H, and here’s what they had to say about Season 20, South Park’s long history, and much more…
IGN: Did you ever think South Park could last this long?
Trey Parker: For the first many years, just every season, it was like, dude, we have to make six of these. It'll be hilarious. And who knows what we're going to do next. And then we're like, wow, I think we're going to do more than six. Maybe we'll do this another year… We might do this another two years. That's crazy. And we were always kind of looking for the other thing, but we also -- every time we came back to South Park -- we really liked it. We didn't like doing it, but we liked having done it. We always kind of felt like we were going to move to L.A., do our thing, and move back to Colorado. That was always the plan. I think we still somewhat mentally have this attitude of like, any minute now we're going to stop and move back to Colorado.
Spider-Man: Homecoming Takes the MCU Into Puberty
The new Peter Parker -- and Spidey -- Tom Holland took the stage at Comic-Con today to show off a first look at Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Studios and Sony’s solo webhead movie.
Director Jon Watts was also on hand, and he described the film as “a high school movie. A straight-up high school movie
a 15-year-old kid. This is the ground level of the Marvel Universe.” The helmer said we know what it’s like to be a billionaire inventor or a god from another realm in the MCU, and now we’re going to know what it’s like to be 15 and just coming out of puberty. Add to that having spider powers and… “Wouldn’t you really want to tell everyone that you’re Spider-Man?” he said “If you had to keep that secret, it would drive you crazy.”
More Original MST3K Alums to Appear in New Series
Joel Hodgson's Mystery Science Theater 3000 reboot will mark the return of several veterans from the original show, including Bill Corbett and Mary Jo Pehl.
Today at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Corbett will be back for Season 11 to both write and reprise his role as Brain Guy in a guest appearance. In addition, Kevin Murphy will reprise his role to guest as Professor Bob, while Jo Pehl is returning to write and guest appear as her character Pearl Forrester.
The aforementioned additions join Dan Harmon, who officially joined the project as a guest writer back in December, as well as Felicia Day, who will star as Kinga, the daughter of Dr. Clayton Forrester.
2 More Thor: Ragnarok Villains Reveal
Marvel Studios screened some concept art and proof of concept footage as well as a behind-the-scenes look at Thor: Ragnarok, which just recently began filming in Australia. In addition to quick glimpses of Hulk in his battle armor and the god of thunder with close-cropped hair and war paint, the conceptual footage also revealed two more adversaries that Thor and Hulk will face-off against in the third entry.
We got a look at the Fenris Wolf, a being inspired by Fenrisulfr of Norse mythology. In mythology, the Fenris Wolf is prophesied to devour Odin. It is also said to be the offspring of Loki. Oh, Loki, you dog!
The footage ended with Hulk launching himself at Surtur, the gigantic fire demon who helps bring about Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard and all things. Inspired by the being from Norse mythology, Surtur made his Marvel Comics debut in Journey Into Mystery #97.
What We Saw from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at SDCC
James Gunn and his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast took the stage for Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con in a very different position then they were in when the first movie made a splash at the annual geek-fest a couple of years back. Now the sequel to a huge pop culture hit, Guardians Vol. 2 is a far cry from the untried, unfamiliar bunch of a’holes they were not that long ago.
Aside from revealing Kurt Russell’s character (Ego!) and the fact that Sylvester Stallone does in fact have some kind of role in the film (as had been rumored), two clips were played for the Hall H crowd. The first was a full scene from the movie, which saw Michael Rooker’s Yondu and Rocket imprisoned by Yondu’s former allies, the misshapen space pirates the Ravagers. Those nasty characters also have Baby Groot, now free of his pot and wearing a tiny little Ravager uniform, and while one of the Ravagers asks his boss if he can kill Groot, the boss says no: “He’s too adorable,” he snarls.

Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction Coming to Disneyland
At Comic-Con today, Marvel announced that a new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction called Mission: Breakout is headed to Disneyland in summer 2017.
Mission: Breakout will take place inside the Collector’s museum and will have guests team up with Rocket Raccoon to set the other Guardians of the Galaxy free. Benicio del Toro will return as the Collector.
“The setting is a kind of fortress that’s owned by the mysterious Collector and it’s packed with creatures and his latest acquisitions from across the universe. Now he has imprisoned the Guardians of the Galaxy and they’re hanging in display cases over a giant abyss,” Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering portfolio creative director, said in a statement.
