Top 10 Secret Levels in Video Games
Some of our favorite gaming memories involve hours and hours of investigating a level's many nooks and crannies, only to stumble upon an extra, secret level to explore.
In this list, we've collected some of our favorite secret levels of all time, based on the quantity and quality of the hidden content.
Here are the top 10 secret levels in games.
Mile High Club is the perfect exclamation point on the end of Call of Duty 4’s fantastic campaign. The brutally hard bonus mission unlocks after players complete the story, and drops players into a frantic firefight to clear out a double-decker airplane. It only lasts an insane 60 seconds on Veteran, requiring near-perfection to rescue the VIP and unlock that coveted Mile High Club achievement.
Miller & JRJR on Making a Dark Knight Returns Prequel
Next Wednesday sees the release of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - The Last Crusade #1, a prequel to Frank Miller's classic comic The Dark Knight Returns. Re-teaming with Miller is his Daredevil: Man Without Fear partner John Romita Jr., who drew this 57-page one-shot story.
Brian Azzarello is co-writing with Miller, like they did with The Dark Knight III: The Master Race.
In The Dark Knight Returns, there's passing mention of how Jason Todd's Robin was killed by the Joker. This story will unveil what happened to him and flesh out the troubled relationship between the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder. Also, we never found out precisely why Batman went into retirement, and that's another big question that gets answered.
Wrestling Wrap Up: Styles Accuses Cena of Burying Wrestlers
Before I pounce into the porridge that is Styles vs. Cena, let's talk Brock. The Beast. The ferocious, fickle fighter who, last year, made a big move by re-signing with the WWE just days before WrestleMania - instantly making the Brock vs. Roman main event more interesting since, until that point, many thought Brock would lose because he was on his way back to UFC.
Now, please don't make the mistake of assuming I know anything about UFC. I'm not the guy you want reporting on the sport of kickpunching. I know very little, and that's a generous estimate. In fact, my plan was to watch my first ever UFC event whenever Punk made his debut. And that, of course, feels like a vow I made a loooong time ago considering what a bumpy road Punk's had on his way to the Octagon.
Justice League Dark May Be Next DC Animated Movie
The official announcement of the bonus features for the forthcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of Batman: The Killing Joke revealed that it includes an "exclusive sneak peek at the next DC Universe Original Movie." We may now know the identity of said animated movie.
According to the British Board of Film Classification (via ComicBook.com), The Killing Joke release includes "A Sneak Peek at Justice League Dark."
Netflix Voltron Series Producers Talk Avatar/Korra Influence
This Friday, Netflix will release all 11 episodes -- including a double-length premiere -- of DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender, a reimagining of the classic animated series. Leading up to that, I had the chance to speak with showrunners Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos, who previously worked on Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and a slew of other animated series.
During our chat, we talked about how they adapted Voltron for a new generation, writing serialized stories for Netflix, the show's Avatar/Korra influences, and the potential for Season 2...
IGN TV: So I watched the premiere earlier this week, and I thought it was excellent. It actually inspired me to go back and watch some of the original Voltron. But this to me felt like a good entry point for newcomers while giving fans of the old show something new and different. Was that your intention going into this?

Here’s How Overwatch Competitive Play Will Work
Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch's game director, has outlined how the game's competitive play mode will work when it is released.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Kaplan confirmed competitive play will be coming this month, but there is no firm release date yet. In Competitive Mode, players will go up and down ranks based on whether you win or lose, similar to Hearthstone's current system. Plus, it'll be season based, so your rank will reset every few months.
Blizzard listened to feedback for its plans for the original ranked system, and found that player perception was off. The intitial system was progression based, with Heroic Rank being the highest ranking you could achieve. The game would show "a stack ranking of top players who hit that rank," said Kaplan.
