10 Goriest Moments in Family Films
Was it a horror? A drama? A superhero flick? No, for most cinemagoers, the first time they saw something that really disturbed them was while watching a ‘safe’ kids’ film as they sat cheerily next to a parent, both oblivious to the trauma that was about to etch their way onto their soul forever. And yet these eye-opening moments – with the early ’80s boasting a particular pre-PG13 vintage – have become cherished because, well, you always remember the first time, don’t you? Moment: Sharing Platter Splatter
It’s always gross when couples get all cutesy with their food in public, but it’s even more spewier when that couple is mummy and daddy Tyrannosaurus Rex and their dinner is Eddie, the guy trying to save our heroes as they dangle helplessly from the cliff’s edge. The enraged T-Rex tears poor Eddie out of his SUV, playfully flip him around in the air before each dino grabs an end in its huuuuge teeth and tugs hard, bloodily bisecting him. PDA guys, come on!
Dark Souls Board Game Kickstarter Passes £2 Million
Dark Souls The Board Game has surpassed £2 million ($2.9 million) on Kickstarter, and there are still 10 days of the campaign to go.
The current total is a little over £2.1 million, which means a couple of new stretch goals have been unlocked. Mini-bosses Kirk, Knight of Thorns and Melinda, the Butcher will be unlocked for everyone for free. The next milestone will unlock Oliver the Collector.
In addition, the Darkroot Basin expansion set is now being offered as a purchasable add-on, which includes models of Sif, the Great Grey Wolf and Artorias.
The number of backers has reached over 20,000, and the board game has eclipsed its original goal of just £50,000. In fact, the campaign reached its funding goal just three minutes after it went live.
Battlefield 5 Teaser Released Ahead of World Premiere
With Battlefield 5's world premiere coming later today, you'd think its employees might be showing a few nerves. Not so - DICE-associated accounts are having a lot of fun on social media this morning.
The Battlefield Twitter account yesterday revealed a miniature teaser of "game-engine footage". It consciously doesn't reveal anything much about the setting of the game, although some are suggesting the character's clothes point to the rumoured World War 1 setting.
Cats Movie Coming to the Big Screen Via Les Mis Director
Director of Les Misérables, Tom Hooper is bringing another stage show to the big screen, and this time it's Cats.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed Hooper is attached to direct and produce an adaptation for Universal Pictures and Working Title. Also producing will be Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Debra Fayward.
There is no information on whether the movie will be live-action, nor do we know who will pen the script yet. IGN will update you when we learn more.
Cats is based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and was a long running show both in London's West End and on Broadway.
Alden Ehrenreich Reportedly Cast as New Han Solo
Alden Ehrenreich of Hail Caesar! and Blue Jasmine is reportedly in final negotiations to play Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars prequel.
Ehrenreich beat out Kingsman star Taron Egerton and Transformers 4's Jack Reynor—along with many, many others—to play the roguish smuggler, sources at The Hollywood Reporter said.
Activision CEO Comments on Divisive Infinite Warfare Trailer
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has addressed the strong reaction to the debut trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in an address to investors.
Revealed earlier this week, the new Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer – published on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel – immediately began accumulating likes and dislikes at a far more even rate than had been the case with previous Call of Duty reveal trailers.
“First of all, you gotta love the passion of gamers,” said Hirshberg in his statement, since provided to IGN. “This is an industry like no other and a fan base like no other. We love that our fans treat this franchise like their own and have such strong points of view about it.”
Maisie Williams Confirms a Game of Thrones Character’s Return
Maisie Williams let slip a pretty exciting Game of Thrones spoiler during an interview on BBC Radio 1 -- something so top secret that she is worried she might have just gotten Arya killed in punishment.

When a fan asked Williams point-blank about whether we'll see Rickon again this year, she hesitantly answered, "Ye...es. Yes? Maybe?
Yes, we will indeed."
She quickly realized she might have given away too much, adding, "Oh no, I'm literally going to get off the air and someone's going to email me." Williams joked that this might end up pushing the showrunners to kill off Arya, but they wouldn't be that vengeful... right?

KFC in Hong Kong is marketing a limited edition edible nail polish that allegedly tastes like chicken.
KFC told Racked: "In line with its spirit of innovation, KFC Hong Kong unveils their new 'Finger Lickin' Good Edible Nail Polish' range, keeping the brand literally at their customers' fingertips while savoring their delicious signature chicken."
Candy Crush Dev Made a Quarter of Activision Blizzard Revenue
Net revenue generated by King Digital Entertainment made up 23% of Activision Blizzard's revenue for the quarter ending March 31, according to financial statements released by the company.
Additionally, revenue from digital distribution channels for the company grew to 64%, from 45% of the total for the same period last year, an all-time quarterly record for Activision Blizzard.
Overall, Activision Blizzard reported a better-than-expected first quarter for its fiscal year.
The acquisition of King Digital Entertainment was officially closed in February, with Activision Blizzard buying all of King's outstanding shares for $18 USD each, for a total value of $5.9 billion.
Irredeemable: Anchorman’s Adam McKay to Direct Comic Book Adaptation
20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to Boom! Comics' superhero series Irredeemable.
According to Deadline, Anchorman director Adam McKay will helm the film, with Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' Tommy Wirkola in charge of adapting the story.

Created by Mark Waid in 2009, Irredeemable lasted 37 issues. The story followed superhero-turned-villain Plutonian, who was once considered "the world's greatest superhero," as he begins murdering the citizens of Earth. Plutonian's former colleagues—a group known as the Paradigm—are tasked with stopping the once-beloved superhero.
