The Dark Tower Movie Begins Filming

Sony Pictures Entertainment's The Dark Tower has begun filming, Stephen King announced Wednesday.

Based on King's seven-book series, The Dark Tower film has been a long time coming. Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey take on the main roles of the gunslinger (Roland Deschain) and the man in black (Walter Padick), respectively.

Player Two Fan Short Will Make You Cry

Last night I happened upon this fantastic short about one gamers ability to deal with loss. After losing his father, one commenter told a story about how that impacted him and left a comment about his experience. It was a story about how gaming brought his father back into his life in a unique way. The original comment that inspired the piece seen below was made by user 00WARTHERAPY00 when responding to a post asking if gaming could ever be a spiritual experience. Filmmaker John Wikstrom saw this and wanted to give his impactful and emotional response some special treatment. Below you can see the results of said piece which John was nice enough to let us share on IGN.

PS4 Was the Best-Selling Console for March

According to figures released by the NPD Group today, the PlayStation 4 was once again the best selling console in the United States for the month of March.

In a statement, Sony thanked its fans and partners for continuing the console's sales streak, as well as putting PS4 as "software sales leader for the month of March."

The NPD Group reports PS4 was the top platform for The Division, as well.

"We are truly humbled by the success and look forward to delivering more amazing gaming experiences," Sony said.

The best-selling console for February 2016 was also the PlayStation 4. The PS4 has held the top-sales title every month, with few exceptions, since Sony launched its latest console in 2013.

WB to Launch Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe

Warner Bros. has announced the title of the upcoming Scooby-Doo reboot, as well as plans for more Hanna-Barbera movies, in a sizzle reel at CinemaCon 2016.

The new Scooby-Doo movie, titled S.C.O.O.B., is planned for a 2018 release and according to Slashfilm, it will be the first of several potentially interlocking Hanna-Barbera movies.

Warner Bros. hasn't said yet how this will work, or what cartoons it might be looking at for future films, but the Hanna-Barbera roster has plenty of options. Johnny Quest, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear, The Smurfs and more fall under the Hanna-Barbera license, though some of those rights now reside with other studios.

The Mist Series Coming to Spike TV Next Year

Spike has now greenlit the TV adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist.

The series order is set for 10 one-hour episodes, which will begin production this summer in preparation for a 2017 premiere. The series will follow the events in a small town after a mist seeps in and creates chaos.

Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse Coming West

Altus is bringing Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse to North America this summer.

Also known as Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final in Japan, this iteration of the series follows a hunter that makes a deal with a lesser god to come back to life and fight his way across a post-apocalyptic Tokyo. SMT IV: Apocalypse is a standalone 3DS game, but does have some plot crossovers to the original Shin Megami Tensei IV.

SMT IV: Apocalypse features a partnering system that allows one of seven teammates to join players in battle in addition to the player's demons, over 450 demons for to fight, fuse, and recruit, and the return of the Press Turn system.

IGN gave Shin Megami Tensei IV an 8.5 for its great demon fusion and fast-paced combat.

Activision Confirms Ghostbuster Reboot Tie-In Games

The upcoming Ghostbusters reboot is getting its own video game tie-in this summer.

USA Today reports that the four-player RPG will be coming on July 12, just before the July 15 release of the new Ghostbusters. It's slated for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

However, it won't be starring the old-school 80s crew or the rebooted all-female cast. Instead, it will feature a new round of Ghostbuster rookies tasked with keeping New York City safe, while the movie cast are off dealing with spooks, specters, and ghosts across the country.

Deadpool Is Officially Getting a Sequel

20th Century Fox's super successful R-rated comic book flick, Deadpool, is officially getting a sequel.

According to Variety, studio co-chairman Stacey Snider confirmed today at CinemaCon that Deadpool 2 is indeed in the works, with director Tim Miller returning to helm and Ryan Reynolds back as the smart-mouthed antihero.

Additionally, Fox confirmed it's bringing back the entire creative team behind the first Deadpool movie, with writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Resse returning to pen the sequel's script.

First Look at Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell

Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures have released the first image from science-fiction flick Ghost in the Shell.

The live-action adaptation of the popular manga places Scarlett Johansson front and center. As you might expect, the first look features the actress as the special ops human-cyborg hybrid called "the Major." Leading an elite task force called Section 9, the Major is devoted to taking on the most dangerous cyber criminals.
