Robert Downey Will Be in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Iron Man will make an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming as actor Robert Downey Jr. has reportedly sealed a deal to star in Sony's first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Sources say the size of the role is unknown at this time," according to Variety. The new web-slinger, played by Tom Holland, makes his debut opposite Downey's Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War.

TheWrap reports, "It’s unclear whether Downey Jr.’s deal includes sequel options, though he is expected to appear onscreen in the Iron Man suit, according to insiders."

Impressive Writers Group Formed for Hasbro Cinematic Universe

A host of award winning writers have joined the writers room for Hasbro's cinematic universe, which includes G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries, M.A.S.K., and ROM.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the group includes Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Spider-Man 2), the Eisner Award winning Brian K. Vaughan (Y the Last Man, Saga), and the Oscar-winning Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), who will be head of the writer's room.

Game of Thrones Renewed for Season 7 at HBO

With the return of Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley and Veep on Sunday, April 24th, HBO has announced season renewals for all three shows.

HBO's Michael Lombardo announced that Game of Thrones will be coming back for a Season 7 in 2017. Not addressed in the announcement was whether the new season would have a shortened episode order, as showrunner David Benioff recently suggested.

Benioff and D.B. Weiss believe Game of Thrones will only have about 13 more episodes, split over a seventh and eighth season. HBO responded by saying that number isn't locked in stone, but there are ongoing conversations about potential shortened seasons.

Musician Prince Dies at Age 57

The musician Prince has died. He was 57 years old.

TMZ reports that Prince's body was found early this morning at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota.

The site adds that the artist, whose full name was Prince Rogers Nelson, had a medical emergency last week that required his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. However, he assured his fans that he was O.K. at a concert the following day. Reports at that time indicated that he was battling the flu. He had recently cancelled two shows due to health concerns.

Person of Interest: New Extended Trailer for the Final Season

It's the beginning of the end for Person of Interest.

IGN has the exclusive debut of the new extended trailer for Season 5, the final season of CBS's action drama starring Jim Caviezel, Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, Amy Acker and Michael Emerson. Watch it below:

There's plenty to be excited about in this two-minute preview, but it's especially exciting to see just how much Shaw is in it. As Sarah Shahi promised at Person of Interest's New York Comic Con panel, "Shaw comes back in a very dynamic way."

The trailer leans into how this is the final season, but also plays up that there's plenty of excitement, gunfights and apocalyptic situations in our future. Oh, also, apparently some romance for a certain fan-favorite pairing?

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Delayed Again

Mirror's Edge is getting another delay, this time to June.

Game director Erik Odeldahl announced that the game has been pushed another two weeks, to June 7 in North America and June 9 in Europe. He says the extra time will be used to address player feedback from the closed beta, particularly in regards to the Social Play online features.

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst had originally been slated for February 23, but was pushed back to May 24 late last year. The Social Play features include an asynchronous Beat L.E. mode that lets you mark elements in the world for other players, highlighting Easter eggs or shortcuts. Those will be tested this coming week with the closed beta, but until then you can read IGN's recent hands-on.

DC’s Rebirth Expands in July

DC released their full lineup of solicitations for July 2016 this week. Look for the second wave of DC Rebirth titles to kick off that month, including Nightwing, Justice League, Batgirl and Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps.

EVE: Valkyrie Will Be Cross-Play Between Rift, Vive, PSVR

CCP Games has announced EVE: Valkyrie will support cross-play between the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR.

According to Polygon, EVE: Valkyrie executive producer Owen O'Brien told fans the news today at EVE Fanfest in Iceland. "What we haven't said before, and will for the first time here on stage is cross-platform play."

"Valkyrie from the outset was made as a VR game, and we want people irrespective of the platform they're playing on to be able to flight together and die together." O'Brien continued. "So that's a big important thing for us. That everyone can play together and we break down the barriers."

Director Can’t Imagine Iron Man Without Downey Jr

As the man who directed the first Iron Man movie, Jon Favreau’s influence over the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' can’t be understated.

Casting Robert Downey Jr. in the lead was a stroke of genius, the actor taking centre stage in five Marvel movies so far, with another coming this summer in the shape of Captain America: Civil War. But Downey can’t play Tony Stark for ever, so we asked Favreau if he thinks the studio could make an Iron Man movie without him.

“I can’t imagine how they could but that doesn’t mean that they can’t. I just can’t wrap my head around that one" came the response.

“To me he’s the one element that has unified all of it, and I think kept a consistent tone, and the integrity of his acting ability and his talent really works wonderfully synergistically with the Marvel universe.
