Play a New EVE Online Minigame, Assist Real Life Scientific Research
In an update released today, EVE Online added a new minigame, Project Discovery - in exchange for finding patterns in images of protein cells, pilots are rewarded with ISK, medals, new Analysis Kredits and, most importantly, the feeling of having just contributed to real life science.
The game is simpler than it looks - you're presented with a picture of a protein structure, and you match its various elements with a set of examples. Does that nucleus look like the same shape as that nucleus? That's a match. The more matches you make, and the more accurate you are, the more in-game rewards you receive. That also means that those looking to cash in by simply making up answers will be given fewer and fewer rewards as time goes on, making the only real path to progression helping people. Lovely!

New Emulator Turns 2D NES Games Fully 3D before Your Eyes
If you've got access to the Firefox browser, load up the 3DNES emulator right now and witness some actual techno-magic, as ROMs of 2D NES games are transformed into fully 3D experiences. It's half inspiring, half terrifying.
The work of Vietnamese developer Trần Vũ Trúc, the emulator analyses NES ROMs uploaded to the cloud and then, well, take a look:
It's not entirely clear how this is working, or exactly what it's doing – the emulator doesn't just extend the sprites backwards, but appears to take some artistic license with how they're presented, dropping shadows and deciding where environmental elements sit in relation to one another.

Amazon Japan Now Ships Games Internationally
Importing Japanese just got a bit cheaper, and more convenient for some.
USGamer reports Amazon Japan is now shipping games internationally. That means being able to skip middlemen like Play-Asia.
Some import sites typically tack on an additional charge for the import service - which can go at least as high as an extra $10 - even before considering the cost of shipping. Since these games ship directly from Amazon the only additional cost appears to be for the long-distance shipping.
There are a couple of catches, however. Amazon Japan requires its own separate account. Which, besides being a momentary inconvenience, means English Prime subscriptions don't carry over.
