The Division Becomes Best-Selling New Game Franchise
The Division had the biggest first week ever for a new game franchise, Ubisoft announced today.
The online shooter generated $330 million globally in its first five days from both physical and digital game sales. The figure is just $5 million more than Activision's Destiny, which generated $325 million worldwide in its first five days.
What's more, Ubisoft also revealed that 1.2 million peak concurrent users played The Division over the weekend, and over 100 million hours have been played in the first week. These engagement numbers translate to "the highest ever for any Ubisoft title," according to Stephanie Perotti, vice president of online services.
Better Call Saul Renewed for Season 3
Better Call Saul has been renewed for a ten-episode third season, with showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould set to return, AMC announced today.
Through the first four episodes of its sophomore season, the Breaking Bad prequel series has averaged 4.4 million live-plus-three-day viewers per episode.
"What Vince, Peter, Bob
and the entire team have accomplished with Better Call Saul is truly rare and remarkable," said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. "They have taken one of the most iconic, immersive and fan-obsessive (in the best possible way) shows in television history and created a prequel that stands on its own. Watching Jimmy McGill's thoughtful, melodic and morally flexible transformation into Saul Goodman is entertaining and delighting millions of fans, whether their starting point was Breaking Bad or not. This series has its own feel, pace and sensibility and we can't wait to see what this incredibly talented group comes up with next in season three."

Inside the Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine VR Experience
Lucasfilm has revealed Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine, a short narrative experience for HTC Vive. Made in the Unreal Engine, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Story Group, ILMxLAB and Skywalker Sound, the short first-person demo is set after the events of Return of the Jedi, and stars a Jedi apprentice of Luke Skywalker’s. It combines convincing Star Wars authenticity and basic lightsaber combat — but it’s not the Star Wars VR game you’re looking for.
Trials on Tatooine is incredibly impressive, with excellent writing, scale, and fan-service. As Skywalker’s apprentice, you’re waiting on a delivery from Han Solo and Chewbacca on Tatooine. Seeing the Millennium Falcon descending right on top of me was mildly terrifying due to its tremendous size and Skywalker Sound’s outstanding audio design, but it was a gleeful moment, too. The boat immediately breaks, and it became my job to fix it. The uncomplicated input involved pressing buttons while following sloppy instructions from a cranky Han Solo, but it’s a special feeling to repair the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

Aunt May Slams Amazing Spider-Man Movies
Sally Field, who played Aunt May in both The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, isn't exactly content with the two films she starred in.
Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Field didn't hold back when Stern asked if she liked the latest Spidey films.
"Not especially," Field said. "It's not my kind of movie. But my friend Laura Ziskin was the producer, and we knew it would be her last film, and she was my first producing partner, and she was a spectacular human."
Field added that she didn't put "a great deal" of effort into her portrayal of Aunt May.
"It's really hard to find a three-dimensional character in it, and you work it as much as you can, but you can't put ten pounds of s#!t in a five-pound bag," she said.
Young Han Solo Finalists Include Kingsman, Transformers Stars
Disney and Lucasfilm have reportedly pared down their young Han Solo shortlist to a handful of actors, including Kingsman and Transformers 4 stars Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle), Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caeser!) are among the finalists for the Star Wars role. They all apparently were involved in testing last weekend in London.
Now there might be a few other names on the young Han Solo shortlist, but it's still been trimmed down from last month. Previously, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Dave Franco were said to be up for the role in the Star Wars film.
