Xbox One Price Drops to $299 for Spring Sale
Starting this Sunday, March 20, Microsoft has announced that Xbox One will drop to $299 - and $50 will be knocked off of all official Xbox One bundles - for a "limited time".
Announced on the Major Nelson blog, the sale is the cheapest official price Xbox One has held and, for now, the price cut has no stated end date.
The price cut coincides with the Xbox Spring Sale - beginning on March 22 - which will discount over 150 items in the Xbox Store, including PC titles. It might well be worth checking out IGN's top 25 Xbox One games to scope out some potential purchases.
The 10 Most Powerful Cards Leaving Hearthstone
The next Hearthstone expansion – Whispers of the Old Gods – is coming in late April/early May and will be introducing 134 new cards to the game. (Read our interview with Team 5 here.)
The big change that accompanies that release, however, is the introduction of Wild and Standard formats to Hearthstone. In Wild, any card that has ever been released for Hearthstone will be playable and available for inclusion in your decks (provided you own it, of course), whereas Standard format will only include cards from the Basic and Classic sets, as well as sets released during the previous and current calendar year.
Halo Composer Discusses Being Fired from Bungie
Marty O’Donnell’s sudden departure from Destiny developer Bungie made headlines in 2014, and for the first time the accomplished Halo composer is opening up about the ordeal.
In an interview with IGN Unfiltered, O’Donnell claims tensions had begun to rise between himself and the other studio heads at Bungie over creative and business decisions for Destiny.
here were things that were being re-jiggered, and my frustration with some of the business and creative decisions started to mean that I was on this side of the divide and everybody else was on this side,” he said of the differences between himself and other staffers. “And, as much as we tried to bridge it, it just didn't seem like it was going to get bridged.”
Captain America: Civil War Trailer Recreated in Fallout 4
Last week people started losing their minds over the second trailer for Captain America: Civil War. This week the trailer has been released again - only this one has been made entirely using Fallout 4.
YouTube user UpIsNotJump recreated the trailer using Fallout 4 mods, and it's remarkably accurate to the real thing. Check it out below.
If you haven't watched the actual Civil War trailer enough yet, you can watch it again below for a comparison.
If you want to try out some Fallout 4 mods for yourself, make sure to check out IGN's guide to installing them on PC. Also, take a look at our best mods of the week series for more ideas.
More Original Cast Members Returning for Prison Break
Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, and Amaury Nolasco are reprising their roles in the upcoming Prison Break revival.
Last week we learned that these three were in talks to return to the show, and today these deals have been confirmed. Knepper (Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell), Dunbar (Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin) and Nolasco (Fernando Sucre) are joining previously announced cast members Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, and Sarah Wayne Callies.
PS VR Bundle Pre-Orders Start Tuesday
We now know when you can put up money for PlayStation VR. According to the PlayStation Blog, pre-orders for Sony's virtual reality headset begin at 7 a.m. PT on March 22.
The bundle applies only to gamers in the United States or Canada.
There's another catch, as well. The pre-order offer only applies to a $500 USD bundle ($700 CAD), not the stock $400 PSVR headset shown at GDC 2016.
Besides PSVR itself, the bundle includes a PlayStation Camera, headphones, a demo disc, two Move Controllers, and a copy of the PlayStation VR Worlds mini-game collection.
Hannibal Producer Thinks Piracy Contributed to Cancellation
NBC cancelled Hannibal last year, and one of its executive producers thinks she knows why.
According to Yahoo, Martha De Laurentiis believes online pirates are to blame. “When nearly one-third of your audience for Hannibal is coming from pirated sites," she said, "...You don’t have to know calculus to do the math. If a show is stolen, it makes it difficult, if not impossible, to fairly compensate a crew and keep a series in production.”
Hannibal was reportedly the fifth most illegally downloaded show of 2013, with numbers reaching into the millions.
Earlier this year we asked you to tell us which show that ended in 2015 you'll miss the most, and Hannibal won by a huge margin. We also recently sat down with Hugh Dancy and spoke about the potential for more Hannibal, and how Season 3 ended.
