Producers Guild Noms Embrace Fanboy Films
The Oscar race is in full swing and one of the biggest indicators of which movies might earn Best Picture nominations is the Producers Guild of America. Today, the PGA announced their nominees for the 27th annual Producers Guild Awards, and fanboy-friendly genre films earned three of those ten spots.
The Martian, Ex Machina and Mad Max: Fury Road all scored PGA nominations -- sorry, Star Wars: The Force Awakens -- while the action film Sicario and the western The Revenant also made the cut.
Rounding out the nominees for The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures are The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Spotlight and Straight Outta Compton.

The 140 character limit for tweets has been a staple of Twitter since its launch in 2006, but that will soon change. The popular social media site is working on a new feature that will allow users' tweets to be longer.
According to Re/code and its sources, the new limit for tweets may be up to 10,000 characters long, the same length as the site's Direct Message feature, which was expanded last year. While that limit may fluctuate before the new feature is finalized, it's expected to roll out as early as the end of Q1 2016.

Creed Star Tessa Thompson in Talks for Alex Garland’s Annihilation
Creed co-star Tessa Thompson may join the cast of Annihilation, the next movie from Ex Machina director Alex Garland.
TheWrap reports that Thompson joins Natalie Portman and Gina Rodriguez in "early talks" for one of the starring roles.
Annihilation is a film adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s novel by the same name. The story follows four female scientists into a dangerous area cut off from civilization. Theirs is the 12th expedition, with the previous 11 all meeting horrific, and various ends.
The crew features four members, meaning that if Thompson, Portman, and Rodriguez are confirmed there's likely still one more star to climb aboard. They'll have to do it sometime soon, as Annihilation is meant to begin production this spring.
