Boyega: Episode 8 ‘Much Darker’, Finn ‘More Physical’

John Boyega, the actor who plays Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has dropped a couple of hints at what to expect from Episode VIII.

In an interview with Vogue, Boyega gave a little more detail on the tone and physicality of the next film.

He called the Rian Johnson-directed sequel "much darker," but said that he and co-star Daisy Ridley (Rey) are very excited for it. He also implied that his character of Finn will be a little more action-oriented next time, saying it "will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more."

Boyega's comments about a darker second installment echoes the original trilogy, in which Empire Strikes Back is the dark middle chapter. Director J.J. Abrams recently addressed criticism that Force Awakens is too similar to A New Hope, saying he wanted a "tried and true" mythology and saying that those tropes were around long before Star Wars.

Rumor: 4-inch iPhone Called ‘iPhone 5e,’ Launching in February/March

The latest rumor surrounding Apple's 4-inch iPhone claims the new phone will be called the 'iPhone 5e' instead of the iPhone 6c. The 'e' supposedly stands for 'enhanced.'

Chinese website cnBeta (via MacRumors) shared several new details about the device, including new hardware specs that are lower than what was previously rumored. Last we heard, the 4-inch iPhone would have an A9 chip (like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus) and camera specs similar to the iPhone 5s. Now, however, it sounds like it will instead come equipped with an A8 chip and 1GB of RAM, putting it more in line with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as well as the latest iPod Touch model.

Second Marvel Comedy in Development at ABC

ABC is currently in development on a second Marvel comedy beyond the previously announced Damage Control.

Speaking with IGN at ABC's 2016 winter Television Critics Association press tour party, ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee revealed that his network has two Marvel comedies in development.

Damage Control will be a half-hour, single-camera sitcom about the people who clean up the messes left by superheroes battling in their city. Of Damage Control, Lee said, "That's the one that's going to be coming out this season. I haven't read it yet. I can't wait to see it. We hope it's going to be great."

Lee declined to share what the second comedy will be about, but did say "in the long term, we'd love it to be" on ABC. "We definitely want to do Marvel comedies as well as dramas and of course, as you know, we supply lots of dramas to Netflix," he said.

Sony’s ‘Let’s Play’ Trademark Application Denied

Sony Computer Entertainment has been denied the right to trademark "Let's Play" by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Though the application was filed in late October, the filing only surfaced last week after being discovered on Justia by a NeoGAF user.

USPTO refused the application on grounds of "likelihood of confusion," as there is a similar mark already trademarked. The official notice of rejection outlines the similarities between the already trademarked service—LP Let'z Play—and Sony's proposed trademark.

USA’s Colony is This Week’s TV Highlight

Midseason premieres and returns continue this week as Freeform (formerly ABC Family) debuts Shadowhunters, Showtime goes big with Billions, TV Land premieres Teachers, TBS dips into the Naked Gun well with Angie Tribeca, and iZombie returns.

The TV highlight his week however goes to USA's Colony - a new sci-fi show from The Strain/Lost's Cartlon Cuse that's lighter on "sci-fi" and higher on paranoia and relevant, real world themes of politics and occupying colonial forces. Lost's Josh Holloway and The Walking Dead's Sarah Wayne Callies play a young couple whose lives and family, like so many others, have been ripped apart after a mysterious alien force conquers and divides Los Angeles, separating many from their loved ones.
