Werewolves and Modern Warfare Combine in Cry Havoc
These days you can't throw a rock without hitting a promising new creator-owned series from Image Comics. Writer Simon Spurrier (X-Force, The Spire) and artist Ryan Kelly (Local, Northlanders) are the latest creative team to make their home at Image. In January the duo will launch an new ongoing series called Cry Havoc, which combines elements of horror, werewolf folklore, military drama and romance into one unique package.
Cry Havoc is a comic that almost defies description, so we figured it was best to let Spurrier explain the premise for himself. We recently chatted with the writer via email to learn more about the origins of Cry Havoc, the difficulties involved in mapping out such a complex narrative and the appeal and challenge of developing a new book at Image.
The Long Dark Reveals Story Mode
Popular first-person, man-vs.-nature survival game The Long Dark is getting a full-blown Story Mode, the developers at Hinterland Studio have announced. The first part launches in Spring 2016, and the first teaser can be seen in the video above. It's expected to clock in at about 3-4 hours, with subsequent episodes lasting 2-3 hours for a grand season total of 10-12 hours. The current Sandbox Mode is available for $19.99 on Steam and Xbox One, but the price will increase when Story mode launches in the Spring. At launch, all Kickstarter, Early Access, and Game Preview backers will get Story mode at no additional charge.
Players in Story Mode will alternate playing as pilot Will Mackenzie and Dr. Astrid Greenwood in their quest to survive in the aftermath of the "First Flare" event. “After keeping our community in the dark about our plans for Story Mode, we’re thrilled to finally be able to reveal some details of what we’ve been working on alongside the over 75 updates we’ve made to Sandbox Mode over the last year,” said Hinterland founder and creative director Raphael van Lierop. “Our success on Early Access proved there’s an audience for a more thoughtful survival experience, and the resources we’ve been able to invest in the game will help us pursue our ambitions around storytelling as we continue to expand this world. We see a bright future for The Long Dark, and are committed to a longterm relationship with our players.”

Microsoft Can’t Keep Xbox One Elite Controllers in Stock
Xbox One Elite Controllers are currently in high demand, as Microsoft struggles to keep stores stocked with its premium-priced control pad.
According to Head of Xbox Phil Spencer, the company continues to ship more units to retailers, but stores are selling out immediately. "I'm glad you found one. We keep shipping more in but they sell out instantly," Spencer told a fan on Twitter.
@MASABELDIABLO @Xbox @majornelson @aarongreenberg I'm glad you found one. We keep shipping more in but they sell out instantly.
The Captain Worf Pitch is No Longer About Worf
Ted 2 hits Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On Demand today from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, and to tie into the release I jumped on the phone with none other than Michael Dorn himself, once (and future?) Worf actor of Star Trek fame and co-star of the Seth MacFarlane teddy bear comedy.
Dorn, of course, has a memorable role in Ted 2 as the lover of Patrick Warburton's character, both of whom cosplay at New York Comic-Con as the real-life geek properties they’re best known for -- The Tick and Worf. MacFarlane’s nerd cred shines through in this movie, that’s for sure.
Crysis Devs’ 1st VR Game Will Test Your Fear of Heights
Virtual reality is moving fast, and there’s a flood of content coming out for various VR headsets. Crytek, most known for its Crysis and Far Cry games, is bringing its first VR game, called The Climb, to the Oculus Rift. The game turns you into a free climber, allowing you to scale cliffs in a fictional location that resembles parts of southeast Asia.
The game appears simple at first, but it actually takes skill and strategy. You control your virtual floating hands with either a gamepad or the Oculus Touch controllers. It's a little strange using a gamepad as I naturally wanted to reach out to grab crevices, which is something you'll be able to do with the Oculus Touch. With a gamepad, look where you want to hold and pull the corresponding trigger to grab. You’ll also have to chalk your hands from time to time to ensure you have enough grip. If you don’t, prepare to fall to your death. Thankfully Crytek decided not to show players hitting the rocks, instead fading the camera to black.
Mario Creates a LinkedIn Account
It seems that Mario has joined "400 million other professionals" by creating a LinkedIn profile.
"For the past thirty five years I have been a proud Italian-American plumber who, along with my younger brother Luigi, have to defeated creatures that have been coming from the sewers below New York City," Mario's profile reads.
The profile details Mario's education, skills, and work experience. For example, did you know that he attended the City University of New York - Brooklyn College where he got an Associate's Degree in Engineering?
Mario also lists his experience as a plumber, as Jumpman, a kart racer, and a hero who defeats creatures in order to save the Princess. He's also fluent in English and Italian, of course.
