Production on Dark Souls 3 Began Without Miyazaki
Dark Souls 3 broke ground without series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki at the helm. Miyazaki told IGN:
“When the idea for Dark Souls 3 came to me it was from From’s President. Not the idea itself, but the president asked me to get on the Dark Souls 3 project for which the prototyping was hitting some speed bumps.”
The suggestion came while Miyazaki was working on Bloodborne, but coincided with a desire to return to the series and a more dark fantasy setting. “I was reminiscing of the things I could have done in Dark Souls that weren’t possible in Bloodborne, and was reminded of the beauty of fantasy. It was the perfect time to return to Dark Souls… and inject some new ideas.”
EA Has Some Workarounds for Known Battlefront Issues
In a new roundup of gameplay issues and workarounds for Star Wars Battlefront, EA has outlined what to do if you're suffering poor performance when using dual graphics cards.
"A driver issue causes dual graphics card setups, such as Crossfire or SLI, to suffer performance drops," says EA. "Graphics card manufacturers are working on a driver update for this issue... In the meantime, disable one graphics card to avoid performance problems."
On Windows, you can disable your secondary graphics card by going to Device Manager > Display Adapters, right-clicking on your graphics card and selecting disable. EA also wants to remind you to re-enable your card after you're done playing.
Pillars: White March – Part 2 Release Window Revealed
Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part II will release this coming January, Obsidian Entertainment has announced.
"You can finish your journey through The White March with the second part of the expansion in late January 2016," the developer revealed in a post on its forums. "Once an exact release date is decided on we will announce it in an update for you guys."
In addition to introducing new quests, this second chapter in The White March will increase the level cap and feature a new "Story Time" mode, which will allow players to "experience the incredible narrative of Pillars of Eternity at a faster pace." A new companion named Meneha the Barbarian, as well as new abilities, are being added, too.
Nicholas Hoult Gets Behind Mad Max Oscar Push
Ncholas Hoult has been talking about Mad Max: Fury Road’s Oscar chances, saying he hopes the films gets considered by the Academy, especially its director George Miller.
Action films rarely get Best Picture nods, but ever since its summer release, filmmakers and critics alike have been talking up the movie’s chances.
“Of course I’d get behind that – that would be phenomenal” Hoult said. “I think for George that’s something that he deserves. That’s the odd thing about awards season – by the way it comes around so quickly – I think we just handed out awards the other day and already people are talking about who’s going to win things this year. There are certainly award-bait movies where ‘these are the things you do’ and then you win awards or this and that and this type of movie. It would be nice if it got mixed up a little bit in that sense."
iZombie: What’s Major Really Up To?
Last week’s iZombie had a big revelation at the end, as we discovered Major (Robert Buckley) isn’t actually killing zombies, as he’s been ordered to by Vaughn Du Clark (Steven Weber), but storing them away in a freezer. I visited the Vancouver set of iZombie this week -- I’ll have more soon from that visit -- where Buckley remarked, “It’s such a huge reveal because up until this point it’s been really tough to settle with the fact that our white knight is killing people. It was a nice relief to see he’s not. He hasn’t turned into a completely cold-blooded killer.”
Buckley added, “I think that was the way of showing he’s kind of working on a secret plan and he has to go through the motions because he knows he’s being watched. To me, he’s not killing anyone yet. He’s buying himself some time to figure out a way to not kill anyone.”
Every Cover From the Walking Dead Comic
Long before it was a massively successful TV series, The Walking Dead was a massively successful comic book. The long-running saga of Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors is still going strong, even as the series nears its 150th issue. If previous milestone issues are anything expect some pretty nasty stuff to go down in January 2016.
As this big milestone approaches, we thought it would be fun to look back at all the covers for Walking Dead issues released so far. Not only are these striking images the only time we ever get to see the series in color, they offer a fascinating glimpse at how the book and its cast have evolved over the past 12 years. Check out our gallery for issues #1-148 below:
Episode One of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Is Free on Xbox
Episode One of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is now free on Xbox One.
Revelations 2 casts players into the roles of Claire Redfield and Barry “Jill Sandwich” Burton. Claire finds herself kidnapped and marooned alongside Barry’s daughter Moira on a mysterious island, and it’s up to the player to find out what’s going on.
You can download Episode One via the Xbox One dash, or queue it up online at Xbox.com.
In our review of the collection as a whole, we said the game “doesn't recapture old glory or reach new heights for the series,” before saying “Capcom’s horror doesn't frighten, but as an action-adventure it’s elevated by this occasional synergy, and the excellent bonus Raid mode.”
