Cooper on American Sniper’s Fake Baby
Bradley Cooper has revealed what it was like working with a fake baby during the filming of American Sniper.
"I literally couldn’t believe it,” Cooper said during his guest appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (via Entertainment Weekly). "Like I couldn’t believe we were working with the plastic baby."
In one particularly memorable scene in which Cooper's character is having a heart-to-heart talk with his wife (Sienna Miller) while holding the plastic infant, he attempts to animate the doll by moving its arm with his thumb.
"I was like, 'This is nuts,'" he said of the experience, adding, "Eat your heart out, Muppets." Cooper jokingly continued: "I have to say, I grew to be very fond of that
In Their Words: Remembering the Launch of the Nintendo Entertainment System
Editor's Note: This feature originally appeared on 1up.com in 2011. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the NES's U.S. launch, we're republishing it here.
"Well, the good news is they're going to let us land. You might want to give your seat belt a little extra tug, because we're going to go in a little fast."
A young Howard Phillips -- normally bright, cheerful and enthusiastic -- clung tenaciously to his seat as the plane prepared for a dangerous descent into New Jersey. It was late September of 1985, and if he wasn't busy wondering whether the high winds of Hurricane Gloria might rip his plane apart, he might have had a lot on his mind.
Falling in Love With Hearthstone in 2015
My whole life I’ve held the belief that any game that requires an ongoing commitment - I’m talking longer than a year - isn’t for me. I’ve never spent any real amount of time in an MMO or a MOBA, and I quit Destiny after level 20. Bar Nintendo’s co-op classics (ubiquitous exceptions) I’m generally drawn to single-player games, dipping into multiplayer modes only on rare occasions. Everything that has a beginning, I decided somewhere along the line, must have an ending. After all, I only have one life operating this fallible meat sack.
And then a couple of weeks ago, my relationship imploded.
Going through a break up, as most of you probably know, is one of the more painful experiences that can occur during a human life. It’s a miserable, sickening affair. And beyond the emotional impact - that rotting-whale-exploding-inside-your-chest feeling - there’s all the tedious practical stuff: the finding a new place, the terrible insecurities that come with mutual friend allegiances, the ‘who gets this cushion?’ questions.
September’s 10 Top Selling Games Revealed
The top selling game for September was NBA 2K16, according to numbers released by the NPD Group today. In second place, another sports game, EA's Madden NFL 16, made another appearance on the NPD Group's top 10 chart. In fact, 4 of the 10 games on the list were annualized sports games.
According to the NPD Group, the sports genre accounted for "32 percent of units and 39 percent of revenue" for the month of September.
As far as single-platform games, Super Mario Maker for Wii U had the distinction of being the only console exclusive to show up on the chart at an impressive number 6 spot. Minecraft held on at number 10, showing the game's enormous popularity still has a lot of momentum.
PlayStation 4 Once Again Tops Sales Chart
According to numbers released by the NPD Group, Sony's PlayStation 4 once again took the top spot in console sales for the month.
However, hardware sales dropped by 23 percent from the same period last year. The NPD Group attributes the strong console sales of September 2014 to the release of Destiny. Still, overall, both consoles are selling at a brisk pace, with combined sales coming in "40 percent higher than the combined 23 month totals for PS3 and 360."
In a statement from Sony, the company thanked its fans and pointed to PlayStation 4 being the "number one console for NBA 2K16, Madden NFL 16, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and FIFA 16."
The Xbox One had a solid showing, according to Microsoft, but once again was unable to knock Sony from its place at number one. "Xbox One continued to see strong momentum in September," Microsoft said in a statement, crediting Forza 6 and a strong showing by EA Sports FIFA '16 for a "solid year-over-year growth" in sales of the console.

Rumor: Kojima Left Konami in October
Hideo Kojima has parted ways with Konami and Kojima Productions. According to a source who spoke with The New Yorker, Kojima’s final day at Konami was October 9.
Konami's change in focus from console to mobile gaming and its grim culture suggests the reason for Kojima's departure, despite rumors of personal or creative differences in the production of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Mobile devices have shifted the video game landscape in Japan and is far more lucrative for video game companies.
