The Walking Dead Renewed for Season 7
In not-very-shocking news, AMC has picked up the #1 show on TV among adults 18-49 - The Walking Dead - for a Season 7.
In linked news, the network has also renewed after-show Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick, for another year.
The third episode of The Walking Dead: Season 6 delivered 18.2 million viewers in its Live+3 ratings, with a breakdown of 12 million adults 18-49 and 11.5 million adults 25-54.
“Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals. When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible. The result: More Walking and Talking. Hooray.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to draw a lot of attention Daisy Ridley's way when it debuts in December. As such, Carrie Fisher recently shared a few words of advice with Ridley about becoming a sex symbol, a topic that the Rey actress was admittedly uncomfortable discussing.
In the latest issue of Interview Magazine (via THR), Fisher told the budding young actress to push back against the pressures to wear revealing clothing. "You should fight for your outfit," Fisher said. "Don't be a slave like I was."

Here’s Why Halo’s Cortana is Always Naked
Ever wondered why artificial-intelligence Cortana doesn’t wear clothes? If so, now we’ve got an answer for you.
Speaking during a livestream with GamesRadar, franchise director Frank O'Connor explained the answer as so:
"She's not really nude … but that's what it makes you think of," says O'Connor. "So one of the reasons she
is to attract and demand attention. And she does it to put people off so that they're on their guard when talking to her and she has the upper hand in those conversations."
"It's kind of almost like the opposite of that nightmare you have where you go to school in the nude. You're terrified and embarrassed and she's kind of projecting that back out to her audience and winning intellectual points as a result."
It’s Time for Captain America to Get Political
The All-New, All-Different Marvel relaunch has been underway for a few weeks now, and while one of Marvel's new series has been in the mainstream news lately, it's not necessarily for the reasons the publisher would have wanted. Nick Spencer and Daniel Acuna's Captain America: Sam Wilson has stirred up some controversy this month because the title hero dared to get political. The first issue saw Sam publicly renounce his ties to S.H.I.E.L.D. and the US government and, in the tradition of like-minded heroes like Green Arrow, become a socialist hero of the common man. Not only is the idea of a politically motivated Captain America not a bad thing, it's just what Sam needs to distinguish himself from the other heroes who have wielded the shield before him.
