NBC Developing Cruel Intentions TV Series

A Cruel Intentions television series may be making its way to NBC.

According to Variety, the network has purchased a script, and Roger Kumble, the director/writer of the original 1999 film, is committed to the project.

The show will reportedly offer a "modern spin" on the hit movie that starred Reese Witherspoon's Annette Hargrove by offering a present-day look at her 16-year-old son, Bash Casey.

YouTube Red Subscription Service Announced

Google has announced it will be launching a new subscription service for YouTube users called YouTube Red.

This new subscription service will provide ad-free streaming for $9.99 a month, putting it on the same playing field as Netflix's standard HD streaming plan.

In addition to ad-free streaming, the service will also enable subscribers to save videos and watch them offline via their smart device. A new app called YouTube Music is coming as well, and will be cross-compatible with Google Play Music.

Several original series are also coming for Red subscribers, including Scared PewDiePie and I Am Tobuscus. This first wave of exclusive content will be debuting in January.

Square Enix to Continue Remaking Existing IPs

More remakes from Square Enix appear to be on the horizon, as the publisher has announced plans to revisit its existing IPs and "revitalize" them for current-gen hardware.

"We will revitalize some of our strong IPs in ways that meet the needs of the modern gaming market," Square Enix said in its annual report (via Polygon). "For example, we will take an IP developed for earlier generations of game consoles and recreate it for the latest consoles, while also proactively developing versions for play on smart devices."
