Supergirl Producers on Early Fan Criticism

After many months of anticipation, Supergirl finally debuts Monday night on CBS. Kara Zor-El getting her own TV show comes with a lot of excitement from many, mixed with trepidation from comic book fans about whether this series will deliver what they hope to see.

Guiding the show are Arrow and The Flash co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg (who also have Legends of Tomorrow in the pipeline), Ali Adler (Chuck, No Ordinary Family) and Sarah Schechter (another Flash and Arrow alum). I sat down with all four of the Supergirl executive producers to talk about their approach to the character, how she differs from Superman, the threats she’ll face and more – including their thoughts on those who were highly critical of the first, six-minute trailer for Supergirl.

Not a horror movie but certainly in the theme of Halloween, The Addams Family is a great film for the holiday and is one of the few on this list that is family friendly. It's fun, it's weird and it only helps that the movie is filled with characters begging to be costumes.

Hard West Is Like XCOM in the Old West

The easy sell for Hard West is “Cowboy XCOM.” That might have been the easy way to design the game, as well – toss a few six-shooters and cowboy hats into a reskin of Firaxis’ 2012 modern classic and you’d have a perfectly serviceable game. But there’s more to Hard West than that. It’s engaging with its Western setting and adapting its gameplay to fit that kind of shootout – which gives a good chance of being far better than merely serviceable.

The XCOM comparison isn’t idle – Hard West uses the same isometric perspective and two-phase movement. It’s also got supernatural elements, with devils and shadow magic popping up in the story – although the core is still conventional gunplay. In Hard West, as in a Western film, you’re supposed to take legendary gunslingers and guide them against impossible odds.

Ash Vs. Evil Dead is This Week’s TV Highlight

Not a terribly busy week here in the final days of October, but there are a couple of notable pop culture properties making their way to TV - the soaring Supergirl and the splatter-fest, Ash vs. Evil Dead.

And while Supergirl represents a big move for both DC and CBS, it's Ash vs. Evil Dead that takes our spotlight position this week as Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert - the OG Evil Dead trio - make their return for an all new gory adventure series featuring Campbell's thick-skulled Ash battling legions of Deadites from beyond. And the fact that the new series is on Starz assures us fans that the nasty, bloody integrity of the franchise will be kept intact. Now, add Lucy Lawless to the mix and you've got a recipe for pure mayhem.

What You Wear in Final Fantasy 15 Will Affect Battle

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has revealed why the game's main cast of characters all wear black.

"The clothing worn by the four main characters is the official battle gear of the Kingdom of Lucis," Tabata said on the game's official forums (via Kotaku). "Noctis is a member of the royal family and the other three characters are parts of various Lucian national organisations and they are each wearing the specific battle dress relevant to their individual stations."
