Power Rangers: Character Names Changed for Movie

The Power Rangers movie has undergone a few changes, as alleged details about Lionsgate's Mighty Morphin film have been revealed.

According to Collider, the film has been retitled Saban’s Power Rangers "as series co-creator and business magnate Haim Saban looks to attach his name to the picture." It appears the script has undergone a few changes as well, with director Dean Israelite and Saban making a few tweaks while the cast is being assembled.

Additionally, the film's cast of heroes has been renamed, pointing toward a completely new team rather than a retake on the original crew. It's also worth noting that each character has been paired up with their own Zord, an animal-themed machine fans of the original series will no doubt recall.

McConaughey Turns Down Guardians 2 Villain Role

Marvel Studios reportedly wanted Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey to play the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

According to Variety, however, "the actor recently passed, leaving the search for that part still in progress. Sources say that decision should be made in the coming weeks, as production is expected to begin in early 2016."

No word yet on which villain McConaughey was offered.

Meanwhile, THR reports that Oldboy remake actress Pom Klementieff has won a "key" role in the sequel. "Marvel conducted a wide search for its mystery part, which called for an Asian actress, and did several rounds of chemistry reads," according to the trade.

Star Wars Rebels: How Are Inquisitors Chosen?

Star Wars Rebels: Season 2 is under way and a lot has changed for the series. This season has taken our core group off of Lothal, as they join forces with the growing Rebel Alliance – and seen them find new allies in The Clone Wars characters Ahsoka Tano (Voiced by Ashley Eckstein) and Captain Rex (Dee Bradley Baker).

We’re also meeting two new Inquisitors in Season 2, the Seventh Sister (Sarah Michelle Gellar, joining her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. on the series) and the Fifth Brother (Philip Anthony-Rodriguez), who are dispatched by Darth Vader (once more voiced by James Earl Jones).

I sat down with Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni to talk about these new inclusions to the series, how he’s handling where Ahsoka and Rex were since we last saw them in Clone Wars, the question of where Jedi (or near-Jedi) characters like Kanan, Ahsoka and Ezra are doing the original trilogy’s events and much more.

2015 Revenue From Esports Valued at $747.5 Million

According to a new report, revenue from eSports reached $747.5 million USD for 2015, a number expected to see a 100% increase by 2018.

The report from Super Data Research shows North America and Europe account for $400 million of global revenue. The lion's share of the revenue generated from eSports comes from sponsorships and advertising, which isn't too surprising. What may catch a few people by surprise is the $55.8 million generated by eSports betting and fantasy sites.

That number beat out revenue generated by the next best-performing category, which is the $53.8 million in prize pools awarded in the various competitive gaming tournaments throughout the year.

Civil War Trailer May Debut With The Force Awakens

The first trailer for Captain America: Civil War will be revealed alongside another major upcoming Disney release, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, according to a new report.

While prior rumors have suggested Cap 3 would be making its trailer debut soon with SPECTRE, Collider's sources tell them it will instead be attached to J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated Episode VII.

A post on what is thought to be the Russo Brothers' Twitter account also adds weight to this report. The tweet includes a pair of close-up images: one of Captain America-like stars, while the other features a zoomed-in shot of a classic Star Wars poster.

Everything Made in Dreams Can Be Exported to Unity or 3D Printers

Media Molecule's next game, Dreams, will let players export their creations to game engines and even 3D printers.

Wired reports that Dreams is being made with exporting in mind, letting players bring their creations into the Unity development platform or bring them into the real world with a 3D printer.

The report also states that MM may be planning to release companion software, like an iPad app that would facilitate more creative applications like movie-making.

Dreams was shown off earlier this year at E3, and got a more expansive showing yesterday during the Paris Games Week. Like LittleBigPlanet, Dreams seems built around the creation tools, but the flexibility of the toolset makes it look closer, in some ways, to a game development platform. The ability to export to Unity certainly backs that up.

When they're not beating the King's Fall raid in just over an hour, Destiny players are coming up with other inventive ways to beat missions in Bungie's multiplayer shooter.

YouTube content creator Sean Gallagher recently took to beating the Crota's End raid using a very different method than the standard controller: a Rock Band drum kit. Check it out in the video below (some NSFW language).

Xbox One Controller With Play and Charge Kit for $50

Normally you'd pay at least $60 for an Xbox One controller with rechargeable battery and cable, but right now you can snag one for the lowest price I've ever seen. You should know that this is the original Xbox One controller with the proprietary headset connection, not the 3.5mm headphone jack. It'll make a good second controller for couch co-op, and scores you a play and charge kit basically for free.
