The 7 Best Anime from Summer 2015
Though we loved more than just the seven shows listed here, the IGN team got together and picked out the best shows from the 2015 anime season based on their ability to tell an awesome story. Let us know your favorite shows from the summer season in the comments below.
Consistently engaging and entertaining, Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma takes the high-stakes shounen battle trope and refines it. Main character and cooking prodigy Soma aims to be number one (a mainstay of shounen anime) at his extremely prestigious cooking school. Food Wars nails that competitive intensity, and it takes the time to develop even its most minor characters so we have a reason to care about their successes and failures. It also does fan service the right way; characters’ over-the-top reactions to food make sense when that food is so beautifully animated and enthusiastically presented. We’re really hoping for a second season, because this is the show that demands it.

Update on WildStar Server Issues Following Free-to-Play Launch
The WildStar development team has issued a statement on some of the server issues that have come up since the game went free-to-play.
WildStar went free-to-play earlier this week, and since then some players have been experiencing problems with long queue times and in-game lag. "Frankly, our megaservers are not handling the load they should," says the post on the WildStar website. "This means our server capacity isn’t keeping up with demand."
"While we're making progress, it's clear we need to do more," the post continues. "In the next 24 hours, we’ll be adding new hardware that will enable us to open up four realms across the United States and Europe. Adding these realms will significantly increase the amount of players who can get into WildStar. We believe that this will address the issues above, dramatically improving the game experience, reducing lag, and improving queues. Once we have resolved the current issues, we plan to merge these additional realms."
Microsoft Buys Havok From Intel
Update: Microsoft has provided official comment to IGN on numerous subjects.
Havok will not be limited to Microsoft exclusively. “We will continue to license Havok’s technology to the broad AAA games industry," a representative told IGN. "This also means that we will continue to license Havok’s technology to run across various game consoles including Sony and Nintendo.”
On the subject of what Microsoft paid for the acquisition, we were told, “We are not discussing financial details at this time.”
Finally, Microsoft told IGN, "We are working closely with the team at Havok to ensure a smooth transition, but have nothing further to announce at this time.”
Battlefield 4 Community Operations DLC Revealed
Community Operations, a free DLC pack for owners of Battlefield 4, is coming this Fall.
In February, DICE announced plans to build a community Battlefield map with the help of players. This map, called Operation Outbreak, will be included in the DLC.
Operation Outbreak's map description is: "Enter the dense jungle to battle for supremacy in a valley with a medical research facility, an ancient temple, and a lush waterfall. The valley is infantry-focused with limited access, making the use of agile vehicles (such as RHIB’s on the river, quad bikes for fast transportation, and light attack vehicles) critical for success."
Heroes Reborn: Ryan Guzman Is Happy to Tackle Big Issues
Carlos Gutierrez (Ryan Guzman) might have picked up the mantle of El Vengador in Heroes Reborn's two-hour premiere, but he had a rough time of his new hero identity in Episode 3, "Under the Mask."
As more and more Evos populate the world of NBC's new supernatural drama, Carlos is the show's rare non-powered person who is fighting to do good in the world. His storyline currently stands on its own as he tries to track down his brother Oscar's killer, but he is clearly primed to be one of Heroes Reborn's central characters.
Do Marvel and DC Have a Commitment Problem?
The DC You relaunch has been a huge creative boon for the publisher over the last few months. There's more variety in the types of comics they publish and a greater willingness to push iconic characters like Batman and Superman in new directions. Unfortunately, not all of these new series and new story directions have paid off financially. That fact was made clear when DC announced the cancellation of six series last month, including critical darlings like The Omega Men and Green Lantern: The Lost Army. While there was a silver lining in that DC quickly reversed their decision for The Omega Men, this situation highlights the fact that the Big Two often aren't giving new projects the push they deserve. They have a responsibility to do more to help their new comics grow and build an audience.
