The Flash’s Return is This Week’s TV Highlight
Halloween approaches as both The Walking Dead and American Horror Story premiere this week along with most of The CW's fall line-up - including Arrow, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, iZombie, and Supernatural.
But the highlight pick for the week goes to The Flash and its Season 2 premiere, "The Man Who Saved Central City." Coming off a speedy, stellar freshman season, The Flash shows no signs of slowing down as more villains and obstacles barrel toward Barry, setting up The CW's big midseason spinoff series, DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Plus, the season premiere features former WWE superstar Adam Copeland - AKA Edge - as the villain Atom Smasher - a baddie who can absorb radiation and grow to giant proportions. You can read IGN's chat with The Flash's showunner about all the big new characters coming to Season 2, like Jay Garrick, Wally West, and Zoom here.

Brad Bird Says Tomrrowland Was Misinterprated
With Tomorrowland hitting Blu-ray and DVD today in the UK, Brad Bird tells us why his “challenging” film was a much tougher sell than Hollywood’s franchise obsession with “playing the same tunes over and over” and also professes his love for downbeat sci-fi.
IGN: Tomorrowland is one of those increasingly rare blockbusters that’s an original concept and not based on an existing property. Since you started making movies, is that becoming a tougher prospect to get off the ground and then get audiences to embrace?
Brad Bird: Of course. Marketing is incredibly important and I’ve had movies that have been marketed and I’ve had movies that haven’t. So I know how important it is, particularly when you’re a film of any
Cop Car Director: “We Thought Nobody Would Make It”
The director of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot on the film that got him noticed by Marvel: a tense, low-budget rural thriller starring Kevin Bacon about two kids who stumble across a cop car belonging to a corrupt policeman, desperate to get back what he’s stashed in his car’s trunk...
IGN: What’s immediately noticeable about Cop Car is its small cast and deserted rural locations, which presumably makes it a manageable concept for a low-budget indie thriller. Was that a consideration when developing it?
Watts: That’s my hometown where we shot it. When
Chris Ford and I were originally writing it, we never thought anyone would want to make it! But that gives you a sort of freedom. It wasn’t even as calculating as thinking, ‘This would be a manageable budget’, or whatever. But everything about it was just really straightforward and stripped down, from the dialogue to the execution; it all just came out that way pretty naturally. There was nothing that was compromised because we made it for a low budget. It just was an idea pitched on that level. So it was sort of perfect.
Happy Bond, James Bond Day
Did you know today is Global James Bond Day, the anniversary of the theatrical release of Dr. No, the first Bond film? Well, now you do!
In honor of that, we'd like to tell you about our trip to the Mexico City set of SPECTRE back in March, during which time the filmmakers pulled back the curtain of secrecy a bit to shed light on the highly anticipated 24th entry in the venerable franchise.
Here are some highlights of what we learned on set:
"It’s a grey and windy day in Mexico City and production on the elaborate opening sequence for Spectre AKA Bond 24 is under way," we reported in March. We observed the production team filming a section of the intricate Day of the Dead action scene that opens the movie; one which producer Michael G. Wilson calls "the biggest" they’ve done to date.
The Greatest Virtual Wrestling Match I Ever Played
Adrian Neville and I were in big, big trouble. I had chosen the excellently conditioned ring technician for a reason, and it wasn't just his beautifully animated finisher, the Red Arrow. In WWE 2K16, conditioning and technical ability can be wielded like weapons – maybe not like a “steel” chair or a sledgehammer – but weapons all the same. I had beaten guys like Sgt. Slaughter and Rhyno specifically by exploiting the skill and endurance gap that exists between them and “The Man Who Gravity Forgot,” but Finn Bàlor was a whole different animal, and here at minute 30 of what was undeniably a five-star match for the ages, it was starting to show.
People throw the term “game-changer” around like a hot potato at Thanksgiving dinner, but that's exactly what the new reversal stock system is. Against a smart, skilled human opponent like the one I was facing off against, managing that resource alone is a major factor, and the ramifications of how you choose to use it trickle down into every aspect of a match, providing meaningful context for many other parts of WWE 2K16's combat system.
Daniel Bryan Still Hoping WWE Clears Him to Return
Last week IGN interviewed WWE's Daniel Bryan in conjunction with WWE 2K16 and asked when he'd be returning to the squared circle.
"So, we don't know," Bryan admitted. "I had a concussion in April, and obviously they're very hyper-sensitive about concussion stuff right now."
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion insists he's feeling fantastic, but not everyone agrees with that assessment. "One neurologist who specializes in concussions - who was the neurologist for the Super Bowl last year - cleared me with no limitations. All my testing came back excellent. But the WWE's medical doctor is skeptical, because of my history of concussions and that sort of thing. So they will not clear me."
