Rare Shows Off Its Unreleased Conker Game

Rare has released a video which reveals some details of its unreleased game, Conker: Gettin' Medieval.

Conker: Gettin' Medieval wasn't actually a sequel to Conker's Bad Fur Day, it was "an Xbox project we worked on after Live and Reloaded," says concept artist Peter Hentze in the video.

Designer Chris Seavor was interested in multiplayer. He wanted to make a game that was "completely online, and it was a bunch of levels that chained and you could come in with your mates and fight other people... In Gettin' Medieval we added medieval war, so it was siege warfare as well."

An interesting point is that Conker wasn't actually going to be the main character. "The whole thing that held it together was Death. Death was going to be the main character," said Seavor. "Now Conker would have a guest appearance, but really it wasn't about him, it was the world of Conker."

9 More Blindspot Scripts Ordered

NBC has ordered nine additional scripts for their new series Blindspot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blindspot, starring Jaimie Alexander, reached 10.6 million viewers after debuting a week ago, which then grew to 15.2 million after three days of delayed viewing, making a notably strong showing among the fall's new series.

The nine additional scripts order does not guarantee that the show will get what's referred to as a full "back-nine" order, expanding Blindspot from it initial 13 episode pick up to a full 22-episode season. However, it's clear NBC is optimistic about the series and wants those scripts ready for the likely scenario that they do order a full season.

Watch This Robot Struggle to Assemble IKEA Furniture

Researchers at the Nanyang Technological University are testing well their robots can complete tasks by making them assemble IKEA furniture in cluttered environments.

Robots can cook and are widely used in manufacturing assembly lines, IKEA even uses them to flat pack their furniture, but doing highly dextrous everyday tasks are a challenge, especially in messy environments.

To develop the ability to complete real world tasks that require fine motor control in cluttered situations, Francisco Suarez-Ruiz and Quang-Cuong Pham are making a robot build an IKEA chair.

The robot sports six cameras for vision and two six-axis motion arms with parallel grippers that have force sensors. The sensors allow the robot to “feel” how firmly it grips objects and when the object meets resistance.
