Tons of New Exotics Coming to Destiny in Taken King

Destiny's upcoming expansion The Taken King is bringing more than just story updates and Destiny's biggest raid ever in "King's Fall." The new content will also include an arsenal update Bungie calls "huge."

"We've got more weapons and gear than were in the shipping game back in September 2014," Bungie community and marketing relations manager Eric "Urk" Osborne told us.

Among the new arrivals will be "tons of new exotics," Osborne said, adding there will also be "tons of new gear" and new weapons.

Bungie showed off The Taken King content at Gamescom, including parts of the story mission "The Coming War." In it, "you can see the warlock gloves with electricity charging through them," Osborne said, teasing one of the new exotics coming in the expansion.

LEGO Dimensions Has Some Wonderful Toys

The small touches in LEGO Dimensions are ridiculous. One minute I was running around Oz as Peter Capaldi’s Doctor, tearing up the yellow brick road in the DeLorean, when I was killed by a flying monkey. It happens. But when I respawned, even though the minifigure of Capaldi’s Doctor remained on the base plate, I was now strutting around the level as the very first Doctor, portrayed by William Hartnell.

eyond appearance – he walks with his hands fixed to his lapels, with a stately grace. I died again. Bloody monkeys. This time I spotted the regeneration animation – it’s the same one that accompanied Tennant’s violent transformation into Matt Smith. This time Hartnell gave way to Tennant, who once again felt totally different. Complete with iconic white trainers, he stood feet apart, a cocky swagger animating his tiny frame. It feels authentic, yes, but more importantly it also feels affectionate.

Avoid Stagefright Vulnerability With New Android App

Mobile security firm Zimperium Inc. has released an app for Android users to detect the presence of the Stagefright vulnerability in their phones.

Zimperium, who discovered the exploit, calls the vulnerability "extremely dangerous", as it doesn't require an affected user to take any action to be taken advantage of. The tool, which is available on Google Play, will let you know if your phone is at risk.

The bug is particularly troublesome because to execute an attack, an attacker only needs your mobile number. From there, they can remotely execute code using a "specially crafted media file" delivered through MMS.

Aquaman Director May Produce Mortal Kombat Reboot

James Wan -- the ultra-hot filmmaker behind Furious 7, Saw and the upcoming Aquaman  --is reportedly coming aboard the long-gestating big screen reboot of Mortal Kombat. But the plan isn't for Wan to direct the video game movie.

According to The Tracking Board, New Line Cinema has tapped Wan to produce the reboot,  which "the studio has described as 'a departure from the mythology,' with 'darker, brutally real martial arts.'”

Mortal Kombat: Legacy's Oren Uziel and The Expendables' Dave Callaham are scripting the reboot, which The Tracking Board claims "centers around a seemingly harmless guy who realizes his potential when he finds himself caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld. Now, in order to stop the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mortal Kombat'."

Deadpool 2 Hopes to Include Cable

If Deadpool is fortunate enough to get a sequel then the powers-that-be already know they want to use in it: Cable.

As director Tim Miller told Empire, "There aren’t really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable. If we don’t put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think we’ll be run out of town on a rail."

Meanwhile, Birth.Movies.Death cites a 20th Century Fox insider who informs them that this the sequel idea the studio is most keen on.

But, as the site cautions, "anything could change between now and pre-production, but this is the current thinking at Fox: they believe Deadpool is a hit and that Cable should join him onscreen."

Game of Thrones: 6 Ways [You Know Who] Could Return

Obviously there are tons of spoilers in here for Game of Thrones. Specifically the end of Season 5.

Almost immediately following the gut-wrenching, soul-collapsing final scene of Game of Thrones' Season 5 finale, fan theory on the interwebz went into overdrive. HE couldn't be dead. It couldn't end like this. Not for HIM.

Game of Thrones: What We Know About Season 6

Of course, we're talking about Jon Snow. The Winterfell bastard who, after four seasons of mucking about with wildlings, had morphed into a true hero who viewers could get behind, invest in, and support. Constantly flying in the face of stubborn, ignorant authority, just about every move Jon had made turned out to be the correct one. And his acumen and honor won him the title of Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.

The Strain: Corey Stoll is Losing the Wig

The strigoi might be increasing in number, form and terror during the second season of FX's The Strain, but the residents of New York City haven't quite honed in on the terror just yet. At least that was the concern from reporters during the summer 2015 TCA (Television Critics Association) summer press tour in Los Angeles.

Showrunner Carlton Cuse, co-creators Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, and actors Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Mia Maestro and Kevin Durand took to the stage on Friday to chat all things vampires. "There is not full scale social demise yet - that happens throughout the show," Cuse explained when reporters wondered about contrasting bloody scenes with ribbon-cuttings and nights out at the batting cages. "It's willful denial and people are trying to go about their lives in New York. It’s kind of a mixed bag at this point."

New Characters, Details About Star Wars: Shattered Empire

Writer Greg Rucka has shared more details about the main protagonists of the comic Star Wars: Shattered Empire.

Newsarama reports that even though the teaser artwork prominently featured the familiar major characters from the original trilogy, they aren't the focus for the comic. Instead, it will feature two new Rebellion fighters, a married couple named Kes and Shara Bey.

Shara is a pilot, and Kes is the muscle. They're both exhausted Rebel veterans who mistakenly think the war is over at the end of Return of the Jedi.
