Valve Uncertain About a Counter-Strike International Championship

With the $18 million International Dota 2 Championship tournament completed, and the Fall Majors coming soon, the growth and success of Valve's MOBA leaves a lot of questions about the future of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which may make the transition to the new Source 2 engine.

"I’m sure it’ll end up on Source 2 at some point," Valve's Erik Johnson said. "Counter-Strike is growing." Behind Dota 2, CS:GO is the most actively played game on Steam.

New Diablo 3 Expansion Hinted at by Job Listing

A new job listing on the Blizzard careers site lends credence to the idea Diablo III will be getting another expansion before too long.

The listing for an Art Director on an Unannounced Project requests potential candidates have "a passion for games with a deep understanding of the Diablo franchise."

News on every other Blizzard title was announced at last week's Gamescom in Cologne, making an update on the Diablo series notable by its absence. New Hearthstone cards were revealed alongside new characters coming to unreleased shooter Overwatch and Heroes in Heroes of the Storm. The biggest announcement by far, however, was of the new World of Warcraft expansion, Legion.

The New Teaser For HBO’s Westworld is Chilling

HBO has dropped a 30-second teaser for its upcoming sci-fi series Westworld, and it's delightfully sinister. Check it out below.

Loosely based on Michael Crichton's 1973 sci fi film of the same name, Westworld is set in a theme park where robots fulfill human guests' most hedonistic desires. However, HBO president Michael Lombardo told us earlier on in the month that the series will focus on the robots this time around.

"This is very much told from the POV of the robots", said Lombardo. "The corporate world’s as dimensionalized as the park. And I think the visitors to the park are really not the primary focus of our show at all. So again, without giving more than that away, I think all I can say is only one character that you saw in the clip is a visitor to the park. And yeah, it resembles the film in name and in spirit and but really is, I think, otherwise not much of a reference point.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Won’t Use Luminous Engine

Square Enix has no plans to use the Luminous Engine in the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

When asked by Nova Crystallis at Gamescom whether or not Square's custom-built engine would power the aforementioned remake, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata replied: "Final Fantasy VII (Remake) is not planned to be made with that."

While Final Fantasy XV is being built on the Luminous Engine, Square's other major project, Kingdom Hearts III, was originally being developed on it as well, but has since switched to Unreal Engine 4.

Bill Murray Will Appear in the New Ghostbusters Film

The upcoming Ghostbusters reboot will reportedly feature an appearance by Bill Murray.

According to THR, Murray, who played Dr. Peter Venkman in the first two films, will show up in the Paul Feig-directed film. The nature or length of Murray's role isn't specified in their report.

Murray was famously hesitant to appear in the then-Ghostbusters 3 given the lukewarm reception to the 1989 sequel.

Last month, we learned that Dan Aykroyd may be making a cameo in the Ghostbusters reboot as well.
