Here’s How Nightfalls Are Changing in Destiny
Destiny: The Taken King creative director Luke Smith has revealed some upcoming changes to the way Destiny Nightfalls work.
The big updates include a Level 40 level requirement, a 30 second time-out penalty for death, and your fireteam wiping no longer returns you to orbit.
Smith wrote about these changes on Bungie's website. "The death penalty of being kicked to orbit often leads to players feeling forced to play too safe, rather than running through the world as a monster killing machine."
Smith added "another thing we didn't like about the Year 1 Nightfall was how players could feel forced to play Nightfall as early as possible in the week to maximize the benefit from the Nightfall buff. So, we've shelved that buff until we can reform it into something closer to its original intent - a mark of prestige for having achieved something challenging. We've adjusted sources of XP and Reputation up to account for its absence."
Why Until Dawn Is Cinematic Horror at Its Best
Greetings Podpeople! It's Friday, which can only mean one thing - the IGN UK Podcast crew return to dribble themselves lovingly into your lugholes. Don't fight it - it's meant to be like this.
This week sees the unholy trinity that is Gav, Rory and Luke discussing how when games try to be like movies they seem to get it right, while movies that try and adapt games continue to get it so, so wrong.
There's also an analysis of this week's news, including Hideo Kojima's last ever trailer, Xbox One's backwards compatibility, and the almighty McWhopper. In the history of missed opportunities, this will forever go down as a big one.

Nintendo Is Finally Doing Indie Gaming Right
Nintendo is leaning hard into its indie initiative. In a pre-PAX “Nindies at Night” event in Seattle tonight, 19 games were in tow that showed off the big plans the publisher has in mind for Wii U and 3DS, including some great spiritual successors to Nintendo franchises we know and love, new versions of games we’ve enjoyed on other platforms, and a bright future for Yacht Club’s Shovel Knight.
While we know new Star Fox, Zelda, and Mario games are on the way, plenty of the Nintendo games and franchises fans are longing for are missing in action. With indies, Nintendo can fill that gap. Fast Racing Neo, prominently featured in tonight’s event and developed by Shin’en, is essentially the F-Zero game you’ve been waiting for, complete with breakneck turns and bright, shiny colors.
Mad Max Is 1080p on Xbox One and PS4, Map Isn’t Finite
Avalanche Studios' post-apocalyptic, open-world game, Mad Max, will run at 1080p on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Senior producer John Fuller confirmed the resolution details in a GamingBolt interview, along with information about the game’s map size.
“There are no finite limits to the map… in other words, there is no ‘one side’,” he said when asked how long it’ll take to traverse the map. “You can continue driving into The Big Nothing until you get bored or killed.”
“Our tech can support enormous worlds but it is always a case of balancing the density of content and travel distances so that the player feels they are in a rich world.”
Fast Racing Neo Keeps the Spirit of F-Zero’s Multiplayer Alive
During the Nindies@Night event at PAX, developer Shin'en Multimedia revealed online and offline competitive multiplayer races coming to Fast Racing NEO.
The fast, futuristic racer will let up to eight players race together in online matches. Up to four players can sync up additional controllers and compete in a splitscreen mode.
Fast Racing Neo is a racer that recaptures the fast and furious spirit of F-Zero, a series that hasn't had a new installment on a Nintendo platform since 2004. The game will ship exclusively on Wii U in 2015.

Project CARS’ Old Vs New Car Pack Available Now
Slightly Mad Studios has revealed its next salvo of DLC for Project CARS; a special car pack featuring three classic cars and their contemporary counterparts.
The pack features a 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback and 2015 Mustang GT, a 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo and a modern 320 TC WTCC car, and a 1987 Ruf CTR and a current Rt12 R.
You can check out the trailer below, which has been cleverly created as somewhat of an homage to an old Ruf promotional video called “Faszination auf dem Nürburgring”, complete with VHS effects and 4:3 aspect ratio. The ’87 Ruf CTR, nicknamed the Yellowbird, was notable as the fastest sports car in the world at the time of its release, with a top speed above even the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959.
Nintendo Confirms Shovel Knight Amiibo
At its pre-PAX Nindies at Night event in Seattle tonight, Nintendo confirmed the existence of the long-rumored Shovel Knight amiibo.
For the Wii U version of Shovel Knight, the amiibo will unlock an exclusive co-op mode, making it the only version of the game that supports two players for the entire game. On Wii U as well as 3DS, the amiibo will unlock exclusive challenge modes not available on other platforms as well as customization options (changing the look and color of your Shovel Knight) that can be saved to the amiibo.
Beyond that, the details from the leak earlier today were also confirmed -- the figure will work with the Wii U and 3DS versions of Shovel Knight as well as all future games developed by Yacht Club on Nintendo platforms. Nintendo confirmed it will not work with first-party games at this time, but the feature is under consideration.
