GTA Online Banning For Single-Player Mods
Rockstar is reportedly banning Grand Theft Auto 5 players from GTA Online for using mods – in single-player.
Shortly after the immensely popular Grand Theft Auto 5 launched on PC in April, Rockstar told IGN that it would not tolerate mods that negatively affect the GTA Online experience.
"Our fans do some amazing things with our games," Rockstar told us last month, "but our priority is on making sure nothing detracts from the integrity of the GTA Online experience, and working to prevent anything that can potentially have a negative impact on the overall community."
Players now are saying that they're getting banned from GTA Online even if the mods they're using are kept to the offline single-player mode.
Report: Boba Fett is Next Star Wars Anthology Film
Those long-standing rumors may in fact prove true: Boba Fett is reportedly getting his own movie.
TheWrap claims that the Boba Fett standalone movie will be Disney's second planned Star Wars Anthology film, the new designation for all non-Episode, spinoff and standalone films as announced by Lucasfilm at Star Wars Celebration last month.
Chronicle and Fantastic Four director Josh Trank exited the project Friday, saying in a statement, "After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path. I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities."
Quake Creators Almost Paid Modders in 1995
Although Valve's recent plan to pay mod makers was met with controversy and negative community feedback, it wasn't the first company with that kind of idea.
During the short time Valve's failed program was active, id Software co-founder John Romero spoke about id's plans to compensate Quake modders back in 1995. The developer wanted to create a company called id Net, which would have essentially functioned as a website portal for all of the Quake community modders.
"I've always believed that mod makers should be able to make money from their creations," Romero told Gamesindustry.biz. "It was to be a curated site, levels and mods chosen by us at id, and if we put your content on our network we would pay you an amount equal to the traffic that your content drove to the site. The idea was that players would log in and be in a big level that felt like a castle with lots of doorway portals and signage that explained where you were going and what was there."

Maze Runner Actor Cast as Its Pennywise
True Detective director Cary Fukunaga has reportedly found his Pennywise.
According to Variety, British actor Will Poulter will play the evil clown in the New Line retelling of Stephen King's It. Poulter's most recently been seen in We're the Millers and The Maze Runner, but others will remember him as "Eustace Scrubb" in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and from 2007's Son of Rambow.
"After considering older actors like Mark Rylance and Ben Mendelsohn for the Pennywise role, New Line wanted to take a different route and go younger," claims Variety. "Sources say in the end, Fukunaga could not say no after being blown away by Poulter’s audition for the part and felt he was the right choice for the role."

Ed Boon Explains Why MKX Has Easy Fatalities
On today's Mortal Kombat X livestream, series creator Ed Boon explained why the Netherrealm team included easy fatalities in MKX.
"There are players who cannot do fatalities," Boon said, "especially when it says 'Finish Him' and there's a timer counting down. That's part of what prompted us to make these easy fatalities."
He continued, "
, we did research and had focus groups play the game, and easy fatalities was the number one request. Having them helps everyone in that group. It's for people who will never be able to do a fatality, who will never experience doing fatalities in MK."
MKX includes microtransactions for easy fatalities, if you find yourself unable to pull them off. You can also unlock them by opening containers in the Krypt
Mortal Kombat X Boss Introduces Online Fix
In a recent live stream, Mortal Kombat X boss Ed Boon discussed complaints he and his team at NetherRealm had received from the community surrounding the online connection in their recently-released fighting game.
"We definitely want to hear it," Boon said of people's reports with issues in Mortal Kombat X. "There's no way we could consider ourselves content with the online experience."
In order to address reported issues with individual player connectivity in ranked matches, Boon announced the team would be implementing a quick check that would allow people to back out of matches that would not meet a certain connectivity threshold guaranteeing a stable match with their opponent. The concern arises from certain connectivity issues affecting rankings.
