Tomorrowland Tops Lackluster Weekend Box Office

In one of the weaker recent Memorial Day weekends for Hollywood, Disney's science-fiction adventure Tomorrowland staved off a strong challenge from last weekend's champ Pitch Perfect 2 to open in first place at the North American box office.

Tomorrowland -- from director Brad Bird and producer Damon Lindelof and starring George Clooney -- grossed an estimated $32.2 million, far below industry estimates of between $40-50 million. (Check out this roundup of Memorial Day weekend debuts to see how it compares to past openings during this holiday frame.)

Tomorrowland received a "B" Cinemascore from audiences and mixed-to-negative reviews from critics. It earned another roughly $27 million overseas, which indicates a tough road ahead for the film. The movie, which is inspired by the Disney theme park attraction of the same name, reportedly carries a hefty $150-190 million price tag.

How Neil Patrick Harris Became a Disney Theme Park Star

Neil Patrick Harris is a die hard Disney fan – specifically of Disney parks. As a result, the busy actor has already been involved for quite awhile in various ways with Disney, including taking part each year in Epcot’s Candlelight Processional at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL and providing the vocal tracks for the California Screamin’ coaster at Disney's California Adventure at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA.

Now, Harris can be seen by guests on a nightly basis in a big way at California Adventure, as he stars, alongside none other than Mickey Mouse, in the newly revamped World of Color show. Tied into several major events Disneyland Resort has launched as part of Disneyland’s 60th anniversary, the new show is called “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” and focuses on the history of Walt Disney himself – from his creation of Mickey Mouse, to his animated films to Disneyland. Harris and Mickey appear throughout the show as part of the large, projected images that appear on walls of water, intermixed with elaborate lighting and special effects to immerse the audience.

Lords of the Fallen Is Getting a GOTY Edition

City Interactive and Deck 13's Lords of the Fallen is getting a Game of the Year release next month.

As is typical with most GOTY editions, this re-release includes a whole bunch of post-launch content, including the Ancient Labyrinth DLC, the Demonic Weapons and Lionheart packs, new weapons, armor, and more.

Lords of the Fallen is often compared to Dark Souls for its level design and difficult gameplay. Executive producer Tomasz Gop has addressed this sentiment, making a case for why its action-RPG should be judged on its own merits.

Apple’s Streaming TV Service Reportedly Delayed

The heavily-rumored television streaming service from Apple is reportedly a bit further off from release than originally expected.

It was initially believed that Apple was intending to launch its Sony Vue competitor later this year with a total of 25 channels. However, according to a report from Re/code, the company has hit a few snags in attempting to get local broadcast networks on board.

Due to the complexities involved in getting these networks on its service, it stands to reason that the release of Apple's streaming TV service will be delayed outside its purported late 2015 launch, assuming it ever sees the light of day.
