Dead or Alive Producer Asks PC Modders to be ‘Good and Moral’
Dead or Alive: Last Round is coming to PC next month, but if modders do unsavory things with its characters, the franchise may not appear on PC again.
"We have to deal with mod issues from an IP holder perspective," said Koei Tecmo producer Yosuke Hayashi to MCV. "We would like to ask PC users to play our game in good and moral manner. Otherwise, we won't be able to release a title for PC again."
Hayashi didn't further explain what he meant by "moral," though he later elaborated on Dead or Alive's traditionally attractive, scantily-clad fighters.
"Our characters, male and female alike, are created in a fantasy setting and are using extraordinary abilities to compete with each other in a clearly light-hearted, over-the-top universe," Hayashi said. "Their abilities are very balanced and we want to present all of them as dynamic, strong, sexy, and confident."

How Sports Games Inspired Shadow of Mordor’s Nemesis System
The concept behind Shadow of Mordor's rivalry-building Nemesis System has a pretty unlikely origin.
Speaking at a panel during the 2015 DICE Summit, Monolith Creative Director Michael de Plater explained that the Nemesis System was inspired largely by the storytelling potential of sports games.
According to de Plater, - a veteran developer of EA Sports and the Total War franchise - sports games have a large amount of personal story potential. No retries are given to those who lose games, revenge against rival teams can help encourage better strategies and desire to win, and the individualized stories that can be forged by everyone's unique circumstances of failure and success breed a type of satisfaction de Plater felt could translate well into their open-world action game.
